The course effectively deals with one of the biggest problems with the 'IT' world: Speaking in another language that non-tech outsiders don't understand. Great course I learnt so much I can take this information I have learnt and utilize it in my IT career.

By Frank Mitchell on 9/6/2020

Whilst I understand some networking, IP address, switches, routers I lack understanding of how it all gels together and what to do and how to access areas of the network. I feel this course will give lots of insightful information and thank you for running this introduction course.
Great stuff, I am beginning to better understand networking and in particular Subnetting was always something I did not fully understand until now. Looking forward to more detail. I have enjoyed this so far.
Thank you for this very interesting overview course on networking. Whilst I had some very basic understanding of IP addressing, what hubs/switches and routers did and being basically self taught in using computers, some software awareness and repair of such equipment I lacked all the basics of computer networking in general, although being retired from my career in telecommunications as a telephone transmission engineer and involved in project management did give me a slight advantage and understanding of telecommunications networks both local and long distance in the UK. I wanted to start at the very beginning to get a better understanding of the mechanics of computer networking which this course has highlighted and achieved, so thank you very much. Being of retiral age I want to keep on learning more, as I look after a small community organisation computers and its small network which I sometimes struggle with the networking side of things, how to access, what to check for etc, however this course has enlightened me to the intricacies of IP networking which I severely lacked, so again thank you. The course covers the communication network from a US perspective although probably not too indifferent to the UK network although there are some differences which I would be happy to share if you would like.
Once again Thank You!

This was a great primer for networking for people with non-tech backgrounds. Alton explained things clearly and made the content accessible. I would've liked to see more practice questions at the end of the units.

I purchased lots of courses here and this is the only course I actually completed entirely! Although the instructor could have explained some of the content better, overall this is amazing and I highly recommend everyone, whether you are an university student trying to pass a networking course or an IT professional.

This course was an excellent match to my expectations and hopes! Alton is a great tutor. This is a beginners course in networks and so explores the technical side of computers. The course subjects has been broken down into small and very understandable chunks. I am already exploring aspects taught and taking the subject deeper just to test my understanding.
I am thoroughly enjoying this course and looking forward to what Alton has in store..Brilliant absolutely brilliant to which I thank him for.

This course has given basic insight in networking but what i found lacking is, it doesn't provide a visualization as how everything is happening in computer networking world.

By Eric Hale on 7/7/2020

I'm also taking courses for CCNA certification and this is a nice higher level overview before getting into the more granular details. I would recommend this course for that reason as well as those who would like to have a better understanding of networks in general.

Why I did not give a 5?
- Summarise section with a final quiz of the whole course
- Sum up file with the most important knowledge given in the course
- A business case of a big company with several locations with a more complex network requirements

I very muched liked the modular style of the class. Bullet seqmented information makes it easy to digest, store and rearview if there was anything I needed go over again to cleaify.
As for the PDF resources, they were well done. I think, I would like to have had the section PDF's combined to make it easy to store the related lector notes, I would like to going back and combine section topics notes together into one file.
Make no mistake the lecture was informative and with my thime and money.

Due to changing majors and transferring colleges, my education is messed up and has many gaps. This course is actually blowing my mind with all the things that suddenly make perfect sense now.
