Cons

    • Class is centered around a final project to ensure students develop the practical skills necessary to succeed in graphic illustration.
    • Course can be taken for fun, for a certificate or for college credit.
    • Course does a great job of teaching what makes a good illustration just as much as the mechanics of crafting the illustration.
    • Considering it is a college course, the lack of instructor participation is alarming. This is largely a self-study course.
    • Despite being an introductory course, it assumes proficiency with Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Course does not provide supplemental information for utilizing the tools covered in the material.

Definitely not for the beginner as the explanations of how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are general overviews done in about 5 minutes. If you don't know have previous knowledge in those programs, it can be difficult and more time consuming. Plan time wisely on the final assignments so you're not up 'til 12:30am like I was completing an assignment!

I audited this course and found it easy for false-beginner. Which mean it is easy if you have a bit have experience in it, otherwise, you will to take the course a few time. But, this is a very generous course. Very well explained and knowledgeable. Very close of my own path (of course).

I did learn a few photoshop skills and got a lot of illustration practice, the assignments are pretty full on with lots of thumbnails & pencil drafts (non digital) required (on top of the actual finished product), and so you have to leave lots of time for assignments which is 100% of the course (there are no quizzes). The presenter is very talented, but I found him very hard to listen too.

I did the Audited course. I enjoyed the course and the only issue and reason I gave it three stars was the instructor's lack of participation in the course; I know it was free for myself, and that none of my assignment would be graded etc.but other students seem to have no success with contacting the instructor.

Excellent course! Highly recommended. As an artist with over 20 years experience, I found Mr. Junichi Tsuneoka's style of art refreshing.

I found that I had a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed that you didn't really need to spend too much time each week watching videos and got to spend the bulk of your time on your projects. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is thinking about being a graphic illustrator.
