Moves too quickly through each step. You have to be ready to quickly press pause in order to see some of the steps that are demonstrated.
This course is not for all skill levels, It's not a course per say because nothing is explained properly, everything is done in a rush and there are many steps on the way that you can only copy what the VFX artist is doing and hope you will understand at some point. I have no doubt that the teacher knows his stuff, but at least for my skill level this course is advanced and very hard to follow. I recommend that future students learn and get comfortable with Houdini before doing this course.
I was initially expecting that the course would be starting with Houdini's "black box" shelf tools for explosions and showing us how to perfect/customize them by digging deeper. I was a little concerned when this wasn't the case but then began to appreciate that the instructor was taking us through the process by building it up one node at a time - likely the way it was done in previous versions. By doing so, it gave me a much better understanding of each node that the shelf tool would just automatically create inside the DOP network when you click it.
My only complaint is that I wish the maximum resolution of the video were higher than 720 but you get used to it after a few minutes.
Too fast for beginners although I went back and fix the mistakes that I didn’t do but some not. Not suitable for beginners
