Brian Jackson

I was born the middle of the last century in Los Angeles, California. After moving for a time to the Silicon Valley, I graduated from Humboldt State University amid the redwoods of Northern California.
Two weeks after graduation I was working as a computer systems programmer for Lockheed Missiles and Space (LMSC) back in the Silicon Valley. Two months after that and I was married as I have been happily ever since (for 38 years).
After 14 years at Lockheed I moved from working on IBM mainframes to using PCs running the Unix operating system and encountered a thing called the Internet. Cisco Systems seemed to be the right place to work, so I joined the company as their 650th employee. Eleven years later Cisco had grown to over 20,000 employees.
I retired at the age of 48 and instantly became bored!
Throughout my professional career I'd always enjoyed both writing and providing technical training. So, I attended creative writing classes at my local junior college and began to write.
I managed to write and self-publish a handful of books, but things didn't take off until my wife, Melanie Jackson, an established author with a New York company, left traditional publishing to join me in self-publishing.
In 8 years, from 2010 to now, Melanie and I have made half-a-million dollars self-publishing well over 100 books. I also managed to record a pair of audiobooks for Amazon and Audible sale.
By 2014, our rapid rise to Kindle fame had already dwindled. I decided to

An absolutely fantastic course for those new to either drawing or Clip Studio, (or both in my case). The big thing is to work with the exercises, do the homework.Take action and you will draw some really amazing things!

Sorry to say that this course was far too basic. If youve no experience in digital art at all it might be worth a look, but I found it very slow and repetitive even at 1.5x speed. It covers a few basic tools in Clip Studio but nothing about brush types/creation. Nothing about layer modes. The tutor cant actually draw so spends ages telling you how to produce very poor drawings using vector layers. Very disappointed with this course. You could discover more in an hour experimenting with the program yourself. Im afraid for me it was a complete waste of money and time.

This course is nice and easy to understand, even if you dont have that much knowledge of digital drawing. The assignments are easy to do, from beginner to expert ;) And I am happy I took this course to get to know Clip Studio Paint a lot better.Brian has a nice and calm voice and its nice to see where he made mistakes too, so you can do it better right away. If I had to choose, i would do this course again if needed. For 5 Stars er are just a few things missing:-correct subtitles, the words are wrong now and then ( thin instead of ink, like someone who was just listening typed it and tried to make sense of it)- Maybe less of a sales pitch for CSP, I mean it is a course for this program. Its nice that the software is compared to each other, but the pitch for CSP was a bit too much for my taste

When I first got Clip Studio Paint, I had no idea how to use it. After taking this course, I can fully move around the program and know exactly what i'm doing. I can say that I've learned a lot on how to use Clip Studio Paint. This will be the ground work for me to further my knowledge on the program. I believe this course is good for a beginner who doesn't know how to use the program.

This course so far is what I've been looking for , for a very long time. I have this program but don't use it very much because I don't know much about it. I hope to change that in the very near future.

This course is good for the beginner who is not familiar with a digital art but I have been draw in digital art for 1-2years so in some section, it's too basic for me.Brian is a good teacher and he always encourage you to draw with a kind words. I really like that part of him.If I need to Recommend something, I think you should add more detail about every tools and functions in Clip Studio Paint because I Thought your course will provide these things for me but it's not.If you add more details in various tools, it would be good.

A very good beginner course for anyone new to Clip Studio. All the basics are very well explained with many examples.

Really well taught and informative. Brian keeps it moving at a pace that allows learning.

Brian's delivery is very down to earth and supportive, I always enjoy taking courses that do what they say they are going to do.After doing a number of tutorials where the instructors are constantly producing "quick sketches" that are all beyond anything I have ever finished; this was a breath of fresh air.I learned enough of digital drawing fundamentals and Clip Studio Paint without feeling intimidated that I am confident to strike out on my own projects and allow my skills to develop as they will.Brian, thanks for your efforts.... The course was what I was looking for, the teacher explains step by step how to proceed and almost without realizing it, you get to know all the tools of the program in practice. As in all well-done courses, your collaboration, your work, your curiosity and your desire to learn are obviously needed. The teacher is very helpful, always answers questions and always offers feedback on your work.

This course has taught me not only how to use Clip Studio Paint Pro, but also some great techniques for sketching, drawing, painting, shading, highlighting, and coloring. Later parts of the course are particularly great. I have definitely come away from the course with what I wanted, and that is to know whether Clip Studio Paint Pro would be a worthwhile addition to my arsenal of imaging programs - mainly Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. I feel I have gained enough knowledge to categorically say, "Yes", as this program does things the others don't.
