Course Description

In this course I will teach you some of my techniques for editing modern day Pin-up images into classic looking vintage style portraits. We will cover many of the tools and editing capabilities found within Photoshop.

In Section 1 - I discuss the history and art style of the original American Pin-up artists. In Section 2 - I show you exactly how I edit an image into a more vintage style portrait, but in a photographic way. Finally in Sections 3 and 4, we dive into Photoshop's painting capabilities, where I show you my techniques for creating illustrative Pin-up paintings in a digitally modern way.

Included in this course are 2 gorgeous Pin-up Girl images for you to work along side of me, two texture overlays, and my own personal Pin-up brush set for Photoshop (sold normally for $20 on my website).

By the end of this course, you will be familiar with some of the painting tools and techniques available to you within Photoshop. You will also have a good understand how to move a photograph away from it's modern day photographic space and render a more vintage style image or painting that is sure to impress your portrait clients. It is recommended that you are working in Photoshop CS5 or newer

My passion for teaching is fueled not only by my love for photography, Photoshop, art, and business but more importantly by the excitement it gives me to be able to help others succeed and obtain their goals.
I have been involved in education and training quite literally my entire life. As a child, I was raised by two teachers and their passion for helping and educating others has been happily inherited.
Although the focus of most of my training and workshops is on the art of photography, along with post processing techniques, I have also found a lot of enjoyment in sharing my knowledge about business and marketing as well.
After about 15 years in a prosperous corporate career as a trainer and manager for two very large companies, I went to work for myself.
In pursuing my passion for photography I opened a small boutique photography business about 10 years ago. This has allowed me to acquire many skills, not just in photography and post processing, but also in things such as running a small business, marketing, and selling.
Today, I organize and teach 1000's of students throughout the United States. I teach on both the aspiring and professional photography level and most recently decided to move some of my training on-line.
I find that the teaching and coaching aspect of my business has become the most rewarding thing that I do today! I still love the art of creating and I believe I will grow old photographing the world and the people in it. But

Lori does a great job teaching you all the necessary steps to take a picture to a painting. I took this course to learn more about painting, as I have taken Lori's other courses as well. She has a great style of teaching, and does things in short lessons versus longer "classes" - great for those of us with short attention spans. The only area she could work on is re-ordering the class, as she does the photo retouching on a different picture, then proceeds to go on to the santa picture after. Not a big deal, and actually helpful to see important steps done on 2 different pictures, but could be confusing. All in all a great course. I did reach out to Lori on Facebook - she's busy, but she did get back to me personally in a couple of days, which is more than I can say for some other classes I've taken with other teachers - thanks Lori!

I have the impression that after using camera raw with the same settings my image is more grunge, while that of the video is brighter.Very beautiful and useful.

I loved the instructor's teaching style, pace and explanation of exactly why, what and how she was doing in Photoshop. Very detailed, but made it easy to keep up and comprehend. Would definitely purchase another course by Lori Jill.

I am half way through at this point. I enjoyed the history and examples she gave of the PinUp Styles. I'm looking forward to the rest of the course. The pace she works at in showing how she paints is just about right. She will remind us of the short cuts in both MACs and PCs, for instance, to invert a mask or to step backward.
