Course Description

Adobe revolutionized the publishing world when it introduced InDesign over a decade ago, and InDesign is now the publishing industry standard. However, its power isn't limited to producing print and digital magazines. It can be used to create virtually any type of material, such as collateral and packaging. With the release of Creative Suite 5.5, InDesign gained digital publishing capabilities built right in, for easier publication on tablets like the Apple iPad, and the Samsung Galaxy and other Android-based devices. Learning InDesign is not optional. For the past several years, every working print designer has been expected to learn InDesign. With the explosion of digital publishing, mastering InDesign is even more critical. This InDesign course for beginners will get you up and running, and give you a solid foundation upon which to build your skills. Once you're done, you'll be able to build layouts that contain graphics and large amounts of text that flows between multiple pages. Lectures are shown in CS 5.5, but everything covered works in even the most current version of the software, which is InDesign CC (Creative Cloud).

so far so goo. like the pacing.

so far great, and easy to understand.

Absolutely! Excellent start.....clear and concise.

Very helpful so far since I am a beginner but have experience with FrameMaker and see some characteristics that are similar.

So far I am finding the course to be easy to follow. I am using a newer version so that is a little bit confusing but I am muddling through.

I'm a designer who usually spends the majority of their time in Photoshop. I needed to complete a few projects in InDesign and decided to take the plunge with this course. It was very helpful, and it totally was what I needed to get familiar with InDesign.I'm pretty sure that having experience in Photoshop beforehand really helped me get through this course quickly.Otherwise, great course and I look forward to taking more courses from this instructor.

First three sections are focused a bit heavily on creating presets, customizing workspace. That should come after we do some basic creation of a document, or even as a sidebar while doing it. Also, should have more practice on laying out a page with type and graphics before getting into the nitty-gritty with the links panel. The instructor is engaging, however, and keeps things humming along nicely.

Very comprehensive and the instructor was very organized and clear. Just like he predicted, it's a lot to take in and you'll eventually need to go through some lessons twice. But the 2nd time around they make so much more sense. I highly recommend this course. Thanks!

I thought this was a very good introduction to InDesign. I see a lot of similarities to QX. I was intimidated to switch, but now intend to use both applications as needed.

Really clear directions and explanations. Each video is brief and concise, so you never get bored. The examples and exercises are simple and easy to replicate. Would highly recommend!

I learned InDesign on the job but I've always just guessed at some of the features, like setting up New Workspaces or print presents - sort of hoping whatever I was doing would work. The explanations so far have really filled in the gaps. Also, I feel much more confident in handling swatches and styles now and have learned tons of ways to work more efficiently. THANK YOU!

I decided to get into Graphic Design back in September 2014. I've used InDesign and managed to get my own business on fiverr setup and going using InDesign so I have a pretty good understanding of the software. However, I self-taught myself the software. This course opened by eyes to so many different techniques for various things that I can't believe I was doing it one way when a completely more efficient way was only a few clicks away!Thank you for producing such a high-quality, compact information packed course!
