This course builds on the first week course and gives you a good sense of what lines and values can bring to your drawing. The instructor, Mr. Evitston, takes his time to explain and show what is needed so that even a beginner like me can feel confident in my abilities.

I have learnt so much about the science of drawing, something I never even knew existed. I wish I had done this course years ago.

After going through the videos of Week 1 several times, I finally felt more ready and confident to approach Week 2. Week 2 gave me more insight in the fact that what you would like to draw does not have to be a perfect rendered representation of what you may see when looking at a subject. This was something, as a perfectionist, I always struggled to understand. It felt like representational drawing was the main aim when you pick up your pencil, and it caused me to struggle a lot and ended up repressing my natural creativity quite a bit. Even to the extent that it started affecting my excitement for drawing itself! Therefore this course ended up giving me more of a sense of freedom, and I think applying what I've learned to my future drawings will end up helping me a lot with creating my own style, which is something I aspire to do as an artist!
So Brent, thank you again for all your help and inspiration! It has been a pleasure watching and learning from your videos. After some revision, I'm very excited to make my way towards Week 3!

There were things on this course that I had not thought of before or considered, like drawing with speed and using and developing marks and lines that express emotions and feelings. It made me realise how I can develop something I have believed very important in the past, a very powerful and expressive line quality in my work. Now I see that I can learn to do that. Thanks Brent.

Brett Eviston is an excellent instructor. Some instructors are good artists yet ineffective instructors. Brett is a terrific teacher of art as well as good artist.

As I have not had any formal education on drawing and skeching, I am not too sure the direction Brent is taking us though I am excited and is willing to experiment as I go along with the lessons. However, I feel the lessons should be designed by finding out from each student the extent and depth he or she is willing to go to learn artistic drawing.

Good foundational course. Do the exercises!! Taking a drawing class without practicing is pointless. I had thought about just watching the videos, to get through quicker, but you get out what you put in.. So having doen the exercises, i'm enjoying having some new skills and ideas to employ in the future.

Lots of great tools and tricks in this one! Hard for me to do the actual atmospherics as I live in the desert and its 120 degrees out, but going to attempt the effect in a still life...in the air conditioning! Will circle back to the landscape in the fall.

Its helping to develop my drawings skills in a scientific way.

I honestly didn't think I would benefit much from learning about dynamic mark making, but after finishing this course I now see my doubts were very wrong. This is a fantastic demonstration of a fundamental skill that I greatly underestimated and I highly recommend any interested in seriously drawing review and work towards mastery of what Brent teaches here.

I am learning to cartoon in the style of the old New Yorker cartoons. Your course has been very instructive and my basic drawing has improved, and my appreciation for other artists and their techniques has also improved. I really like the style and content of this course.
