Course Description

In this beginning figure drawing course, youll learn the exciting art of gesture drawing. Gesture drawing is one of the most important, but least understood parts of the figure drawing process, butInstructor Brent Eviston will guide you through the figure drawing process with the same award-winning instruction and hands on projects that have made his other drawing courses bestsellers.
This course brings the figure drawing studio to you by providing master instruction and timed practice poses for you to draw from. Once enrolled youll learn from numerous anatomical diagrams, detailed drawing demonstrations and hundreds of photographs of a fully nude model.
This course contains 12 lessons, each filled with essential figure drawing techniques. Each lesson contains at least one practice reel with timed poses specifically chosen so you can get the most out of the lesson they accompany.
By the end of this course youll be able to do gesture drawings that stand alone as works of art as well as lay the foundation for more detailed figure drawings.
Because this course features photographs of a fully nude model, it is important that you conduct yourself maturely and appropriately in the course.
Although this is a beginning figure drawing course, it is not a beginning drawing course. Some basic drawing skills are recommended.
Who this course is for:
Anyone wanting to draw the figure.
Fine artists looking to improve their skills.
Aspiring digital artists looking for a career in the arts.

First of all drawing on paper... I would have never been able to do that without this course. My proportions would have been wayyy off and it would have taken a lot longer to get as accurately. Also getting as much on the page in a short period has never been easy for me. It always takes me so long to draw a basic figure before adding all the details. I got discouraged at some points only because my drawing wasn't coming along as good as the pro was but when I get out of my head and look at the bigger picture overall this course made me feel like I was finally improving. And I'm quite proud of what I was able to do as without this course I wouldn't have been able to do anything as I did otherwise.

The format and professional presentation of this course is to be recommended. Bret is an excellent teacher and his short, precise and encouraging approach makes it easier to progress from one stage to the next.

This course was fantastic! Everything I'd hoped and more. Excellent instruction backed by depth of knowledge and robust teaching techniques. Fantastic emphasis on the thought process behind the skills, with plenty of opportunity to explore, execute, and refine. Highly recommend for anyone interested in gesture drawing.

I was expecting to better my understanding of the human body with this course, what was unexpected to me was how much fun I had while improving my skills. I cannot recommend this course enough. Brent is evidently an amazing artist, but he is also a fine teacher: his lessons are very well constructed, taking you from A to B clearly and efficiently. I also appreciate his personal critique to those who ask for it, he really takes his time to correct his students work and put them on the right direction.

Brett Eviston has a fantastic teaching style. He clearly explains what to work on, and shows examples of what to talk about. This is my first attempt at drawing gesture and I am an intermediate level artist; Brett walks you through step by step. Even better is when I got stuck, I could go under the Q&A section of the lesson I was working on to see if other students had the same struggles, and not only would I find I wasn't alone in my questions, but could read the answers back from Brett. His devotion to getting back to the students made this class all the better. Thank you and cant wait to take more of your classes. (I'm already signed up)

I really liked the course format! Starting with the simple and easy-to-understand explanations then moving on to the demonstrations and practice really helped reinforce everything being taught. A great course!

I like slow pace of the course. The author breaks the gesture drawing process into clear phases and a student practices one step of a gesture drawing at a time. The phases build up on the previous ones. Finaly You can use all the phases within a logical gesture drawing system or if You are more experienced, mix or omit the phases to produce satisfying result. I like that every lesson ends with practice reel and that there is strong recomendation to repeat the practice reels more than once. The only thing I wish that there would be more full gesture drawing demonstrations by the author at the end of the course since I find those very helpful while studying. Anyway, great stuff.

One thing that would have helped me out a bit with this course is a lesson dedicated to figure measuring/proportion. There are tidbits thrown in here and there (and the instructor offers a more general course on M&P for drawing), but I think having a dedicated demonstration at the very least would have solidified my understanding that much more. Other than that, learning gesture with Brent was a breeze, and I highly recommended this course
