If youre an undergraduate looking for a cheaper, faster, and more flexible way through school, or a student looking to jump start your college career by getting some of the basic, required subjects out of the way, then this course is for you! If credit-by-examination is completely new to you, then you are not alone. Even in spite of many years in student services, it was only after I became a proctor for CLEP and DSST tests fairly recently that I discovered how useful these programs can be. Both programs have been around for over half a century, both are widely recognized and respected by colleges and universities, but apparently they still remain a well-kept secret in the academic world. After about eight years as a teacher and a tutor in a homeless shelter, I formed a non-profit organization to equip working adults with the resources, strategies, and tools they need to achieve their educational goals. I am convinced that credit-by-examination may be one of the most powerful tools available to help non-traditional students get their degrees. Non-traditional or not, if you are a student, then you too can benefit from this course. There are no prerequisites and anyone can learn these secrets. In fact, you will hear in the lectures about high school students who are taking advantage of these same programs right now. All it takes is a desire to learn. I hope youll take the next step to discover how you too can earn college credits towards your degree in less time and with less money.
Who this course is for:
Any student in an undergraduate degree program seeking a cheaper, faster, and more flexible route to earning college creditsA new student looking to jump start his or her college career by getting some of the basic, required subjects out of the way quickly and cheaplyA potential student needing a shot in the arm to convince him or her that taking and passing a college-level course is well within reachAnyone who is completely petrified or overwhelmed with anxiety at the very thought of test-taking, or anyone not committed to doing a reasonable amount of independent studying to prepare for tests, should probably not take this course.

John Greenlee

Hello and welcome! Thanks for taking a look at my course. Im Dr. John Greenlee, and Ive been involved in higher education my entire adult life.

BA, University of Washington
MDiv, Pepperdine University
DMin, Abilene Christian University

Ive been a professor teaching college level courses in the humanities since 1990, for two colleges and two universities. I was Dean of Students at a small college beginning in 1997 and I then continued to be involved in Student Services for many years after that. While I was advising students at a large university, I became certified as a proctor for both CLEP and DSST examinations.
For almost eight years, I worked as a teacher and tutor for recovering addicts in a homeless shelter. We helped them get their GEDs and then we got them to go on to college. Partly because of my experiences there, I formed a non-profit organization in 2015 to equip working adults with the resources, strategies, and tools they need to achieve their educational goals. Through it, I provide free and independent college guidance and support services especially for non-traditional students.
All of that is just to say, what I teach as a college guidance advisor is exactly what you will learn here. If you are a college student (or are considering becoming one), these same secrets will help you g

I had researched this on my own for the past few years but the instructor provided so many resources that I had no idea about. This class is well worth it for those that are looking for breaks in achieving a degree.

Information that everyone should be given prior to leaving high school. Insightful and direct.

I have been trying to get in healthcare, passed the TSI test, but still need to get all requirement courses. I am working and really cannot do full time study. Which I mean going to class and all that. This program helps me a lot in understanding how to get some credit without worrying about joining the classes and be able to work at the same time. Thank you!

Very thorough and descriptive. Answers alot of questions for me.
Only two problems with course.
A. Some of the websites given would not work.
B. Those websites would be easier to lookup if on the page you could make them "links". For a person like me, I got "turned off" because I had to switch back and forth on tabs between websites to put in the sites. Some of these sites were longer than my short-term memory would allow.
C. Further comment.....This course was very informative and I will come back many times to gather more Information to advance myself in many ways. Thank You

There was so much here that I did not know, I am blown away by what I did not know. I have always wanted to go back to school but was too afraid to add to my already substantial student loan I am trying to pay off. Thanks for all the helpful tips and resources.
