Hi, my name is Brian.  I'm not only a Udemy instructor, I'm a student too.

In this, the beginning of my fifth year with Udemy, I've managed to acquire over 424 Udemy courses.

Now, you may think that I spent a lot of money acquiring so many courses, but you'd be wrong.  You see, I obtained most of my courses for free and the rest at ridiculously low prices through the use of coupon codes.

Coupon Codes?  What's that?

Don't worry, everything is explained in the course.

In this course I'll show you how to find the best courses at the best prices and then how to get the most out of each course you take.

The course is divided into the following main sections:

This course has been newly updated to the 2018 version of the Udemy interface.  Additionally, it includes new topics on how to find free courses on Facebook and how to get full and partial course refunds.

My name is Brian Jackson. I'm the author of about a dozen books, the publisher of well over 100 books, and a Udemy instructor with over 40 courses.

This is my story...

1 Origins

I was born in the middle of the last century in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Humboldt State University, surrounded by the redwoods of Northern California. After 14 years at Lockheed Missiles and Space as an IBM system programmer and 12 years at Cisco Systems as a test engineer, I retired at 48.

I instantly became bored.

2 Community College

To break the boredom, I enrolled at Columbia Community College to take writing, art, acting and statistics classes. I took 24 units over one year and received straight “A”s.

I was still bored.

3 Writing and Self-publishing

I began writing fiction and nonfiction books and self-publishing them on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords in July 2011. Though I wrote and published several books, my self-publishing business didn’t take off until my wife joined me.

4 My Wife and Author, Melanie Jackson

Melanie Jackson, my wife, was an author publishing over two romance novels per year through her New York publisher, Dorchester Press. After publishing 24 novels with Dorchester, the company folded, and Melanie was without a publisher (she wanted to write cozy mysteries anyway).

Knew most of the tricks already, but it's nice to be reminded of them and to learn some more. The instructor has a very friendly voice that's easy to understand, but I had to speed up the video playback by 1.5x to make him speak faster (Worked like a charm).

As ever, another excellent and comprehensive course from Brian! I got his PowerPoint course and it helped me enormously. I feel confident that nothing he does will dissappoint, and this course was no exception. As a side-note, I find his infectious good humour, sense of enjoyment in what he's doing, as well as his pleasant voice and engaging delivery a pleasure to listen to.

It's a good course on some neat tricks to Udemy. My biggest concern is that some videos are there just to pump the time of the course because they are old. Overall I think that the information is well organized and what is communicated is useful, I just would like a tidier presentation deleting the sections that aren't useful any more.

this course is good for people that tend to get confused to udemy's layout/interface. the coupons section is good but there are many other ways to get discount/free coupons. I think including older UUSG edition is erelevant since udemy's layout change a lot and it might just add confusion instead clarity for the students. Over all this course is good, specially for people new to udemy.
