Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

California residents have the right to tell a business not to sell or share their personal information. On CourseDuck that is one click, it works for everyone wherever you live, and it takes effect straight away.

What opting out does

It stops this browser from loading the Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics on CourseDuck, and deletes the cookies those tags have already set in it. Those are the only tools we use that could count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA): they set cookies that Meta and Google can use to measure our advertising and build advertising profiles across websites. We do not sell your name, email address or anything else about you for money, and we never have.

What still happens after you opt out

  • Our own first-party cookie subidCookie (24 hours) still records the page you landed on, any campaign tags in the URL and your IP address. We use it for our own traffic reports and nobody else receives it.
  • Clicks on course links are still counted on our own server, so we know which courses and providers people actually use.
  • When you follow a link to Udemy, Coursera or another provider, their privacy policy applies from then on. Some of those links are affiliate links, so the provider knows the visit came from CourseDuck and may pay us a commission.
  • If you have a CourseDuck account, we keep the details you gave us so you can sign in and write reviews.

The full list of cookies is on the Cookie Policy page.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser or an extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal (Brave, Firefox and DuckDuckGo can), we treat it as an opt-out automatically on every visit, with no button to press. The panel at the top of this page tells you when we have seen the signal.

Opting out by email

Prefer not to use the button, or acting as someone's authorized agent? Email mkuhlman12@gmail.com with the subject "Do not sell or share my personal information". We will confirm within 15 business days and only ask for enough detail to know which account or browser the request covers. An authorized agent should include the written permission of the person they act for.

Your other California rights

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from and who we have shared it with.
  • Delete the personal information we hold about you, apart from what we have to keep for legal, security or accounting reasons.
  • Correct anything we hold that is wrong. If you have an account you can edit most of it yourself under your profile.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect any: no government identifiers, financial account numbers, precise location, health or biometric data.
  • Not be discriminated against for using any of these rights. The site works exactly the same either way.

To use any of these rights email mkuhlman12@gmail.com. We verify requests by replying to the email address on your account or, if you have no account, by asking you to confirm details only you would know. We answer within 45 days. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Not in California?

The button works for everyone. If you are in the UK or the European Union and want to use your rights under the GDPR, email the same address and we will treat the request the same way.
