Course Description

Welcome to "Writing a Book: ChatGPT AI + Self-publishing: KDP/ChatGPT AI"

Have you ever dreamed of writing and publishing a book but felt overwhelmed by the process? Imagine completing your manuscript, editing it, and publishing it—all in a single afternoon. This course shows you how to turn that dream into reality using the cutting-edge capabilities of ChatGPT and other powerful tools.

Yesterday, I accomplished just that: I wrote, edited, and published a short nonfiction book on Amazon in under four hours. In this course, I’ll walk you step by step through the exact process I used, empowering you to achieve the same remarkable results.

Discover the Proven Process I Used:

  1. Research and Topic Selection: I used ChatGPT to brainstorm top challenges faced by writers and chose "writer's block" as my focus—even though it wasn’t a subject I was deeply familiar with.

  2. Outlining and Writing: ChatGPT helped me create a detailed outline and write the entire book in just two hours.

  3. Editing and Polishing: I refined the manuscript using Microsoft Word and two advanced AI-powered editing tools, Grammarly and ProWritingAid.

  4. Book Formatting: Utilizing my included Microsoft Word book templates, I formatted the text for professional presentation.

  5. Book Cover Creation: Repurposing an existing design in Microsoft PowerPoint, I crafted an eye-catching cover in minutes.

  6. Publishing on Amazon: Using Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), I uploaded my book and published it as both an eBook and a paperback within an hour.

This process is not only fast but incredibly effective. With the tools and techniques taught in this course, you can bring your book to life in record time.

Let’s unlock your potential and get your book into the hands of readers. Join me in the classroom, and let’s create something amazing together.

Instructor Details

Brian Jackson

Hello,

My name is Brian Jackson. I'm the author of about a dozen books, the publisher of well over 100 books, and a Udemy instructor with over 40 courses.

This is my story...

1 Origins

I was born in the middle of the last century in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Humboldt State University, surrounded by the redwoods of Northern California. After 14 years at Lockheed Missiles and Space as an IBM system programmer and 12 years at Cisco Systems as a test engineer, I retired at 48.

I instantly became bored.

2 Community College

To break the boredom, I enrolled at Columbia Community College to take writing, art, acting and statistics classes. I took 24 units over one year and received straight “A”s.

I was still bored.

3 Writing and Self-publishing

I began writing fiction and nonfiction books and self-publishing them on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords in July 2011. Though I wrote and published several books, my self-publishing business didn’t take off until my wife joined me.

4 My Wife and Author, Melanie Jackson

Melanie Jackson, my wife, was an author publishing over two romance novels per year through her New York publisher, Dorchester Press. After publishing 24 novels with Dorchester, the company folded, and Melanie was without a publisher (she wanted to write cozy mysteries anyway).

There hasn't been NOT one course of Brian Jackson that has been a disappointment. When considering ChatGPT to help with my time to create a novel; Brian Jackson was the first person I thought of. Knowing that he is always on top of the latest information for improving, creating, sales, marketing, and new skill levels. Thanks again, Brain.

This course and instructor were excellent. It is one of the best courses I have taken on Udemy! I am in my home office writing my book and plan to publish it next week now that I have found the "missing ingredients." The information in this course was just what I was looking for, and the kind, humorous, and knowledgeable instructor made it interesting and understandable. I feel so blessed to have found him and the course. I highly recommend this course for those who are looking to publish their book on Amazon and need to know how to use Chatgpt to give them a helping hand. Thank you, I'm simply delighted!

While I did find a lot of useful material in this course, the two issues I had were editing and missing content. When it comes to editing, I must first congratulate Brian on delivering his material in a relaxed and pleasant voice that is easy to understand. There were points in some of the videos though that were kind of jarring where the video was apparently recorded in multiple sessions. I would recommend that Brian review those and clip out areas where he needed to go back and correct himself. Content wise, there were a lot of instances where Brian announced what his next video was going to be about, only for that to not be the case. It is kinda like reading a book where only certain chapters have been fleshed out and others are still "in the works". I have no doubt that he intends to come back in the future and add additional material, I just wish I would have known this up front.

I recently completed the course, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with the knowledge and skills I've gained from it. This course is an absolute gem for anyone interested in understanding and harnessing the power of ChatGPT in writing and self-publishing. I couldn't be happier with my decision to enroll.

By Rebecca Livermore on 9/28/2023

I love the way that Brian goes through each step of the process in real time, showing how it's done, as well as the pitfalls and things to watch out for. I do think that to put out the best possible book, the human touch is important, but it looks like in the next section of the course, Brian covers that as well. Overall, it's a great introduction to how to write a book with Chat GPT.

By Jane Moore on 9/28/2023

Material is basic, easy to understand. Some is repetitive, just repurposed from other courses. Some is missing. For instance, I can't find the lecture referred to on Applications of ChatGPT engineering. I can't find the articles/templates, even affiliate links he refers to as being in the last lecture. It just takes me to a list of his other courses. Information seems pretty good, but execution seems a little sloppy. Could be me, but if I can't figure it out where this stuff is easily, it probably could be better. Several of the videos waste my time because he's just doing it on the fly. I don't need to watch you review/accept each Grammarly item. I get it.

I love this course on Chat-GPT. I particularly like Brian's teaching style, the course content and the work he has put into it. He has no illusions about creating a book using Chat-GPT, yet he also shows how it can be used well, and with integrity. I certainly feel much better about using Chat-GPT for some of my work. There is no getting away from the fact that even by using AI to produce something that isn't trash, one must have writing skills. Brian shows how the two can be used well. I highly recommend this course.

I needed a little "push" to get some things I have written over the years published, so I was intrigued with the publishing aspect of this course. I will have to say that Brian exceeded my expectation. As a result I have published a few books on Amazon with more on the way. Given that my goal to become a published author has been a lifelong goal, it is not a stretch to say that Brian’s course was absolutely lifechanging! I've taken a lot of courses on Udemy, but hands down, this is the best one ever! A very sincere thanks, Brian!

By Reiner E Prochaska on 7/7/2023

Aside from being interested in the subject matter, I enrolled in this course primarily because Brian Jackson is teaching it. I am currently also enrolled in Brian's CLIP Studio Paint course and I enjoy his relevant, hands-on, personable teaching style. He is one of the few Udemy instructors I have worked with so far who will respond to email requests for help. So far, the content has exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to learning ChatGPT's full potential.

By Charles J Darnell on 6/8/2023

I am very experienced with Jackson. He is very good at writing and teaching a course in an understandable way, which is, after all, the point of taking a course. He is good at getting to the point and even making errors so he can show how to correct them. He researches his subjects well but then turns around and presents them in a down-to-earth manner. I love to listen to him teach a course. I think I have taken almost every course he's done. He's good.
