Course Description

Being Transformed by the Renewing of the Mind'-- That is the goal of this course and one of the Apostle Paul's own goals for his readers.

Paul and His Letter to the Galatians is intended to take you into an in-depth understanding of one of the New Testament's most foundational writings. We will go section by section with lectures by Prof. N.
T. Wright and a Q&A session with Prof. Wright and Prof. Seemuth. We will have reading assignments in the textbook: 'Paul for Everyone: Galatians and Thessalonians' by N.
T. Wright (ISBN: 0664227856). We will also gather in guided discussions with other students so we can learn together through reflection and interaction about application of the material to life. You also will have opportunity to interact with Prof. Wright and Prof. Seemuth through the Discussion Forums. Quizzes have been developed to help test comprehension of both reading material and the video lectures.

The course is intended to take time. We hope that it is worth spending many weeks to embrace Paul's message in his letter to the Galatians. There is no set time limit to the course, so it really is at your own pace. But we hope 'slower' rather than 'faster' will lead to greater comprehension and the transformation the apostle himself would have hoped for.
Who this course is for:
This course is for every person who has an interest in studying one of the most important New Testament documents.
This course is great for beginning students of the Bible as well as for those who know the Bible well.

Once again Prof Wright takes us back to the meaning that Paul gave rather than the distortions that have crept in through translation and societal context. He demonstrates the unity of the message from God throughout the Bible.

I loved this course so much and am thankful for Professor Wrights enthusiam and knowledge of Paul and these letters. Of course the idea that we are justified by faith is a big take away in Pauls letter to the Galatians Now the challenge is to live in unity within the family of God in a way that lines up with the scripture.

The book of Galatians is always a good study. I appreciate NT Wright's wisdom, scholarship, and presentation.

By Willy Chua on 8/15/2020

My appreciation of Galatians has been enhanced. What I thought to be a book on solely on justification is actually a richer book that goes back to Abraham's family.

By John Anderson on 7/16/2020

Much of the material in Galatians is a repeat of parts of Romans. However, Galatians then covers and completes our understanding of Paul in both Romans and Galatians. Galatians covers a dimension not addressed in Romans which make it indispensable in studies of Paul. Who can understand the mind of Paul? Well, it's worth a try in Romans and Galatians. Well done by Pro. Wright!

Wright is great at expaining the context and the theology behind the passages and does so in a way that feels like narrative as opposed to heavy academincs.

This course is well designed and very insightful. I appreciated how Wright connected OT passages with Paul's concepts of fulfilling the "Messiah's Law" as one new family in Christ. Excellent course!

Yes - great match. Clearly presented. would have like there to have been english subtitles. Also some of the quiz question answers were almost like tricks to trap you, instead of reinforcing knowledge. I used to teach Business Stats at the University level, and would get challenged by my students on multiple choice answers. They called them PWA's or poorly worded answers. :) Other than that, this is wonderful material. Thank you. I will be purchasing more as they come on sale.

I find the teaching from Prof Wright so refreshing, as I listen I cant help but thank the Lord for His goodness to me. Wonderful teaching I love it.

By Ray Walker on 5/23/2020

Excellent, in conjunction with Prof Wrights commentary on Galatians it helped me understand a book I'd struggled with all my life and I now have confidence if I'm asked questions about it I will be able to answer.

Great course. N.T. Wright is excellent in his thought process and presentation

I am 90 years old and have read and studied most of NTW's large works, but my mind is beginning to go and I find it hard to engage in conversations which often require a lot of unpacking of their presuppositions. Religious language is particularly difficult in this area - the same word or phrase meaning something different to different people with different experiences. NTW is particularly good at unpacking these sort of problems in the Western context especially. I have special interest in the consequences of the discoveries of cosmologists and their view of the meaning or lack of meaning of their mighty story, The notion that our Lord's resurrection introduces the expectation of new physics beyond that of the 21st century - or perhaps many to come is where my main thought lies. Many thanks for your joint work - keep it up.
