The goal by the end of this course is for you to be able to use what youve learned and create trading algos that execute whatever strategy you can come up with. Now this course is for beginners, so if you are already an algo trader the material in this course will likely not be helpful to you. However if you are new to algo trading, this is an excellent time to learn, and an invaluable skill to develop.

The actual theory behind algorithmic trading is explained very well. The best practices and techniques are also very apparent in the course. My issue with it is the Quantopian platform that is used within the course no longer has a live trading option so you cannot actually use what you have learned in the course to trade which was the only reason I bought the course. The idea of algorithmic trading is taught well and the instructor let's you know that this course is only intended to serve as a starting point in becoming an Algo Trader. But with many of the functions used being in something that does not directly work in the market as I was led to believe it is not very helpful. The only solution that I can come up with is to use an API for the brokerage and learn to automate trades that way. But I asked the instructor and did not receive a response. Then I saw that the instructor has not responded to anyone that has asked a question for as far back as a year I believe.

This a great course to get your feet wet and quickly get an understanding of quant trading bots. I really enjoyed this course because you get to code an algo and the teacher does a good job explaining each line of code. I think this is a great starter course. This course won't make you a pro but it will start you off on the right path.

Totally not for beginners. Just papers over existing content from other places without a good introduction to the concepts. Every other lecture asks students to keep learning and exploring from other places, then what is this course for? Many more much better introductory courses exist out there.

The course had little Python and referred most of the learning to Quantopian. Time could be spent going through Quantopian than buying this course.

There are much better and comprehensive courses out there. It was a bit of a disappointment. Also it is out of date. Python for Financial Analysis and Algorithmic Trading! is a much better course.

This course is just an advertisement for Quantopian. It doesnt teach you to trade or build algos, just ow to use the paper trading site Quantopian. The Python code is all masked behind functions in Quantopian. Skip this class and just go to that web site.
