Course Description

*** Updated January 2015 *** *** Udemy Staff Pick : Best Online Courses *** *** 30 Day Money Back Guarantee *** Over 900 students have purchased this class to get started building web apps, services and tools in one of the most in-demand and cutting edge programming languages around, Node.js! Our first module covers a brief review of Javascript, making sure you have a solid foundation and getting you up to speed quickly. Then we jump right into building your first Node.js script and web server. By the end of the first module you'll have created a Node.js web server capable of running your app or service. In the second set of lessons we explore Express, the most popular framework for creating web applications with Node.js. We'll cover routing requests, rendering html templates, including middleware, and serving static sites. When this is finished up you'll be able to crank out a web app in no time using the express generator. Who this course is for:

This is a Great course . Every thing explained in a very good manner.

By Allen Kaganovsky

It was informative (callbacks and events were the only things interesting and very easy...), but not useful to start creating your own applications.

- 4th year Computer Science student.

I think the explanations are great

Worst content. Nothing explained.

Lots of good info

The topic is hot, no doubt: Node.js and Express.js are a pair which all web devs should at least know by name.

However, this course is merely an introduction to the subject, and certainly not "the ultimate guide" like the title promises.

My complaint is mainly about the depth of the material, not the quality of the material. After completing the course, you are ready to get started with Express.js development, but you won't have an idea of the workflow, and will not be able to create an app on your own. This is in contrast with many other Udemy courses on other programming frameworks roughly in the same price range.

As a long-time back end developer I've been struggling to understand JavaScript. Gregg does a great job of giving an understanding of JS with just enough detail. I will be referring back to this course frequently as I dive into Node.js and Express!

Good review of the absolute basics. I'm running through them at 2x speed (you sound a little funny that way - LoL).

It is a good overview of Express and how to set up views and routes. Definitely worth the time spent on it

Good course for those who never used Node.js before. It assumes you have a knowledge in Javascript, but in the first couple of lectures it does a brief review.

After that it starts with Node.js itself, showing how to start a http server.

Then it shows how Express works, manually and using the Generator.

It's a short course, does not have source-code available for download, although the examples used are simple, you won't have problem typing the code by yourself.

Wish it build a app by the end of the course.

A well taught introduction to Node and Express. Easy to follow. Recommended to know some basic javascript and command line to get the most out of this course.

Awesome explanation of basic server setups and express. May have made sense to explain global npm module installs earlier in the lesson though.
