Course Description

In this Course you will learn How to Create a Fantasy Art Character from the rough sketch all the way to the finished paint work. We start with the drawing process and I explain how to make changes to the concept and not get too worried about everything being perfect in the beginning. There are lots of ways to edit the work and keep pressing forward within Manga Studio 5 / Clip Studio Paint.
We will then cover how to lay in the base paint work and use that to create and save our selections. You will learn how to use the layers to aid in your painting process, as well as how to work in a non-destructive approach.
Once the foundational information is in place we will begin to apply our digital painting effects with a variety of brushes. ( You will get access to all the brushes I use in this Course. )
You will also learn how to create and apply a texture effect for the chain mail on the characters armor. We will be using the "Distort" and "Mesh Transformation" features to accomplish this.
Through this course you will learn how to use : Layers and Groups, Combine Modes ( Blending Modes ), Custom Brushes, Hard and Soft Edge Shadows, Layer Masks, Quick Masks, Blending Brushes, Tonal Correction, Mirrored Windows, as well as General Drawing and Painting Techniques.
This course is 9 Hours and 17 Minutes total run time. 35 Individual Lessons.
You get the Layered Art Files and the Custom Brushes to work along with.

Having a basic understandting of drawing the form, this is helping me expand on my sketches to add more to the art whilst also getting a better understanding of the program.

Being a newbie to Clip Studio Paint I REALLY missed a section with an overview explaining the tools provided by that program. Sure, the instructor did mention some of them while drawing, but the focus was mainly on his drawing technique.

It would have been extremely useful to have the tools explained one by one with simple example applications.

The steps from rough to the complete drawing are explained comprehensively and provide a lot of useful little tips and hints.

Yes, it is a very good match. I'm trying to learn both digital painting and Clip Studio Paint at the same time. Marzullo is probably the best art instructor on YouTube which is where I found this course.

Straight to the point course, excellent material supplied such as brushes and easy to follow as he explains every action he takes.

Make sure to follow each part of the course carefully, he gives a lot of tips throughout the course that I as a reasonably experienced Manga Studio user didn't think of beforehand. Those small tips and tricks are in my opinion the meat of the course.

Robert was easy to follow and the Captions option on the video helped me from getting distracted by other stuff.

I really enjoyed learning all these techniques and seeing the painting process in action. I dip in and out into day-dreaming when there is silence, and I felt like it was dull going at normal speed. However, when I sped the videos up to 1.25 or 1.5 I was able to pay attention easier. Overall I think it was a very helpful course, some of the lighting techniques are broad and hard to understand, but I learned a lot anyhow.
