Joey "OCEAN" was born in LOS ANGELES to
the son of a physician and nurse. Although, both
had medical backgrounds, Joey was introduced
to music and song writing at a very early age
when his parents took him to a Michael Jackson
and Stevie Wonder concert. He was hooked.
Joey worked on his ear and harmonies (that he is
most known for) in band where he was drum
major for two years before, graduating and
attending Florida A&M.
While at FAMU, JOEY created an R&B group
called PHASURE. Under the mentorship of
their entertainment lawyer, JOEY and his college
roommate would stay up writing and producing
for the group.

JOEY returned to LOS ANGELES to work as a
marketing intern for the world famous LAUGH
FACTORY. While working there, JOEY was
introduced to singer / songwriter Maurice
Carmon aka SPAAZZ THE WRITER , who introduced him to
SNOOP DOG, LT HUTTON, and ELTON
BRAND. JOEY was signed to the label "THE
PROGRAM" for a few years and member of the
r&b group, MR.RIGHT. During this time he
also took advantage of opportunites to write for
and with such artists as CHAUNCEY of
BLACKSTREET, JON B. many other signed
and unsigned artists before leaving the
production label in 2007.

IN 2018, Joey partnered with award wining produce KRUSHEL BEATS to form the record label INKDROP music where Joey now leads the A&R team. He started 2019 with 5 tv and film placements.
