Course Description

IntroductionThis course will focus on the hard-surface modeling workflow in Blender. This is a very important and fundamental tool that every artist should add to their 3D skill set. If you struggle with 3D modeling, the boolean workflow, or just don't know where to start, hard-surface modeling is a perfect topic to focus on for all skill levels.
What will the course cover?
You will learn proper modeling techniques and master 3D modeling and hard surface workflow in this comprehensive and fun course. As a general topic, the course will cover hard-surface modeling with a fun and practical focus on SciFi design. You'll also learn about the non-destructive workflow, another big strategy in 3D modeling. Here's a brief list capturing the main elements of the course:
Hard Surface ModelingPractical 3D modeling techniques and workflowsNon-Destructive ModelingRealistic and natural lightingCorrect and appealing compositionRenderingMaterialsCycles Rendering EngineSciFi designOverviewWe'll start by blocking out the basic shape in Blender, discussing some of Blender's fundamental modeling tools and hotkeys. You'll understand all aspects of 3D modeling and the hard surface workflow, and will be able to work confidently with booleans, bevels, and fix common modeling issues that most people encounter.
Next, we'll start learning how to use cutters, booleans, and modifiers to start making the model come to life. After getting most of the model created, we'll bring in the bevels to achieve accurate lighting on the corners and learn how to fix common issues such as artifacts, vertex overshooting, and modifier issues.
Perhaps the best part of this course is understanding how to fix mesh issues that most people encounter, but don't know how to properly fix. Bevel modifiers can cause all sorts of issues, such as artifacting and shading issues. It's actually super easy to fix, but most don't know how or don't care enough to do so. This course will not skip out on these problems, and you'll come out of it a better and more confident 3D artist.
At the end of the course, you'll learn proper lighting and composition, and will achieve a beautiful final render to share with your friends and art portfolio.
You'll also be protected by Udemy's 30-day money-back guarantee, so there's no risk in enrolling.-How is this course Different?
Undoubtedly, you've been working on a model and ran into one of these issues: shading, artifacts, broken bevels, crazy mesh distortions, lag, and things like that. At least one of these problems will be encountered during this course, and you'll also learn the correct way to fix these issues so that if you ever encounter them again, you'll know exactly what to do.
Also, hard surface modeling is a very powerful subject in Blender and 3D in general. There are so many different elements, destructive workflows, non-destructive workflows, and probably crazy terminology you've never heard of to begin with. After this course, everything will be crystal clear and your understanding of 3D modeling in general will be revolutionized.
So in addition to learning proper modeling techniques and fixes, you'll also learn how to create a beautiful SciFi crate design in the process. You'll learn various tricks to achieve that hard surface SciFi look, as well as how to get a perfect lighting setup and render.
Most outlets don't cover these subjects all-in-one, so having a comprehensive list of videos and a fun learning environment is what makes this course awesome.-ConclusionWhether you're a seasoned Blender user or 3D artist, or a beginner trying to get the hang of things within Blender, this course is focused on you. I believe courses that are geared too much towards one skill level tend to not reach their goals as easily. Instead, making it readily accessible to all skill levels, whether by teaching a beginner the fundamentals of modeling or showing more in-depth tricks for the experienced user, is super important. The course will make you a more confident 3D artist and you'll probably never be bored of 3D after it.
Who this course is for:
Beginner 3D artists looking to take their first step into hard-surface modelingExperienced Blender artists looking to learn the non-destructive hard surface workflowArtists interested in SciFi 3D Modeling/DesignStudents struggling to achieve accurate and sufficient lighting in their 3D rendersArtists looking to step up their 3D modeling game, or looking to improve their 3D renders

Josh Gambrell

My name is Josh, I'm 22 years old, and I'm a Blender artist and 3D hobbyist. I'm currently studying Mathematics at the University of Central Florida.Ever since my freshman year of high school, I have developed a passion for 3D modeling and have been using Blender for 7 years now. My specific focus lays in Hard Surface. I also have industry certification in the AutoCad software, but have since moved on and have been primarily using Blender due to its amazing capabilities and professional workflow. In my free time, I practice a sport called Trampoline Wall, and also run a Blender YouTube channel. I also enjoy traveling, gaming, video editing, Mathematics, and of course teaching here on Udemy!I hope that I can spread my knowledge of the Blender software and the world of 3D, while also delivering professional-quality video content to help you master the art of 3D modeling.

As someone who's just started using Blender, this course was just perfect for me as it made me develop a real interest for hard-surface modelling. I feel confident enough now to start working on my own hard-surface projects. I'm still going to take Josh and Ryu's other courses here and on other platforms because they are really good at teaching this stuff.

Excellent! Beyond any expectation! Both teachers are amazing, they work in two different manner but always in a clear and high quality way and this is GOLD for me! Recommended!

This class opened up a whole style of design I didn't think I was going to be get into for a long while.
More Importantly once they have solidified the foundation for understanding this method of design, they dedicate the time to show you addons that make the workflow speed up significantly.
Sidenote: Thank you Ryuu for putting out so many decals for decal machine!

It desperately needs options with hardops, and boxcutter.

Josh Gambrell did a good job going slowly and explaining work flow.
Ponte Ryuurui went way too quickly for me without explaining why he was making his decisions. It felt like I was watching a meandering work flow of trial and error. I was not left with basic guidelines for how he was setting up lights, render settings etc. Just "oh this doesn't look good, add another light here." "Change this render setting..." But he did not describe what he was seeing to guide those changes. I had to pause and back up way too often to see what he had just done and to try to understand why.
It would have helped if both instructors showed an end product for each section and better explained objectives. I wasn't looking for a step by step but I wanted to see what they were aiming at when they started.

Clear and concise specially the first part. Thank you Josh and Ponte.

I loved this course! Highly recommended!!.
I feel even if you have basic knowledge of Blender you should be able to follow through here just fine.
It's a very nice introduction into Hard Surface modelling. It was nice that the course was done in Vanilla Blender as it really teaches you the fundamentals and concept of Hard Surface Modelling.
When you do progress and start getting more comfortable and start using Addons to improve your workflow it will be easier for you to grasp since you did it with Default Blender first.
Im all about Sci-fi so this was extra exciting to me.
I really liked how the course progressed from Josh's simple and easy to follow instruction to part 2 where Ryuu will go more into depth showing you not only how to model, but also showing and teaching you about Composition, HDR Lighting, and tweaking the final render in Photoshop also. Ryuu also dives into Topology and how to clean up your Geometry which is just really essential and awesome stuff to be included into a course imo.
They balance eachother out perfectly. Blenderbros is going to be HUGE. The amount of knowledge and content these guys have on Youtube is fascinating. Make sure to check it out!

Easy for understood, Alot of Practice, even if i see much reply same things it not annoying, boring or something i feel there a reason and a meaning. There is Hard for understand things for me become easy in this course. i really happy for learning this course, and taking him before two another. also i feeling i not just can make this crate, but using knowledge which i taking in the course in any other project, some lifehacks also make my heart beat with more happynes. Maybe it very basic things, but without them hard to make something good and not every course talking about them. Thank you
