Introduction to React and Redux! Code Web Apps in JavaScript (Udemy.com)

There's a lot of great information being presented in this course, but the instructor isn't really breaking it down. When he makes a change within the code, he doesn't really stop to show where or why he's doing it. This is leading to frustration when trying to code along because he does something, saves it, and I haven't the slightest clue where it came from.

In addition to that, it seems like he's making a lot of syntactical errors unintentionally. I appreciate it when a teacher stops to show how to debug something or commonly missed syntax, but it seems like he's guessing on the syntax at points. This is a VIDEO COURSE! If he didn't know what to do with the syntax or made a "stupid mistake" like forgetting to give the server the proper location to look for the info, he could EDIT IT OUT. These little "Oopsies" are becoming so frequent that this course is getting exceedingly frustrating. They're so distracting. Oops- I forgot a comma. Oops- I forgot how to start the server correctly. Oops- I messed up the syntax. GO BACK AND EDIT THE VIDEO BEFORE YOU POST IT.

You encourage your students to code along, but you're having us code along with BAD CODE. And you're having us write those errors with you, and then undo them. They're not bug fixes. They're just syntax errors, that you SHOULD easily edit out of your videos.

Also, would you PLEASE turn down the volume of the animation and random rock-climbing guy at the end? It's SO LOUD compared to everything else.

The course is up to date and logically structured with clearly defined goals. The presentation is clear, motivating, well paced and very professional.

So far the instructions have been very clear and easy to follow. The instructor gives great explanations and breaks the material down into easily digestible pieces.

This course is definitely not for beginners as it is outdated and the constant troubleshooting and outdated bug fixes are discouraging. If you already know react and are looking to just get a fresher that's fine, but if you're a beginner, I wouldn't recommend. There are so many webpack issues in the beginning and that's just infuriating for a course that's supposed to be for beginners. If you really want to follow along I'd suggest you use create-react-app and follow along with the react and redux parts; and even then, make sure you npm install --save react@15.6.1 or lower and react-dom@15.6.1 or lower. I really would've liked to leave a better rating as I've hardly seen courses I didn't like, and this course started so well, but that won't be my honest review.
