Course Description
Management consulting for 2026: Practical frameworks, business cases, and AI-assisted workflows
Fully updated for 2026.
Management consulting is not about memorizing frameworks. It is about bringing structure to ambiguity, evidence to debate, and judgment to decisions that matter.
This course teaches management consulting as a practical system for strategic problem solving, business analysis, business strategy, and evidence-based decision making.
Through 130+ MBB-style frameworks, Fortune 500 business cases, and practical AI workflows, you will learn how strategic consultants turn ambiguous questions into structured, decision-ready analysis. You will also learn how to apply the same methods to real workplace challenges.
More than 142,000 learners have enrolled in this training. The course has a 4.6 rating based on more than 20,000 ratings.
Build a practical consulting toolkit
By the end of the course, you will have a reusable toolkit covering:
A 7-step problem-solving process for defining problems, breaking down issues, prioritizing analysis, synthesizing findings, and communicating recommendations
Case interview methods for profitability, market entry, M&A, investment, capacity, operations, organizational behavior, brainstorming, and estimation cases
Structured thinking methods using MECE logic, decision trees, issue trees, hypotheses, prioritization, and executive synthesis
Financial and analytical methods covering ratios, percentages, NPV, IRR, ROE, DuPont analysis, CFROI, regression, forecasting, cash flow, and economic profit
AI-assisted consulting workflows for case solving, brainstorming, market analysis, operational diagnosis, investment analysis, and recommendation drafting
Communication and career tools covering pyramid thinking, executive storytelling, CV guidance, cover letter support, interview preparation, and communication with senior stakeholders
Learn through realistic business situations
This is a practical, case-based course. You will work through consulting-style situations involving profitability, market entry, M&A, investment decisions, operations, capacity expansion, organizational behavior, estimation, financial analysis, and executive communication.
Instead of studying frameworks in isolation, you will apply them in context.
Profitability cases cover Netflix, restaurants, utilities, luxury brands, retailers, telecom, and infrastructure. Estimation exercises include Spotify, Tesla, O'Hare Airport, Japan's beer market, ChatGPT usage, and more.
The goal is to help you move from "I know the theory" to "I can structure the problem, analyze the options, and explain a recommendation."
Use AI as a structured thinking partner
Consultants still need to structure ambiguous problems, analyze data, communicate clearly, and influence decisions. In 2026, they also need to work with AI responsibly and effectively.
This course goes beyond generic ChatGPT prompting. You will learn how to combine human judgment with AI-assisted workflows by clarifying objectives, breaking down problems, generating hypotheses, testing assumptions, analyzing trade-offs, and developing clear recommendations.
You will use AI to sharpen hypotheses, pressure-test analysis, generate options, and communicate recommendations more clearly. The AI lessons cover market entry, investment analysis, operations, segmentation, organizational design, performance incentives, and other consulting applications.
AI is treated as a thinking partner, not a shortcut.
Follow a complete consulting learning path
Start with the consulting career. Learn what consultants do, how firms operate, how recruiting works, what interviewers expect, and how to strengthen your CV and cover letter.
Build your case interview foundation through decision trees, business cases, case types, and structured problem-solving logic.
Work through the major case categories used in consulting and business analysis, including profitability, industry analysis, market entry, capacity, M&A, investment decisions, organizational behavior, brainstorming, and estimation.
Learn the 7-step consulting problem-solving process and apply it to real cases. The AI sections cover structured case solving, market analysis, investment evaluation, organizational diagnosis, and strategic recommendation development using ChatGPT and AI tools.
Strengthen your analytical foundation with practical lessons on ratios, percentages, inflation, FX, NPV, IRR, risk and return, averages, weighted averages, regression, cash flow, value creation, MVA, economic profit, and CFROI.

John Burress
John Burress is a management consultant, strategy educator, and creator of one of Udemy’s leading management consulting training portfolios, reaching more than 220,000 students and supported by 28,000+ instructor reviews.
His work focuses on the practical disciplines behind high-quality consulting: defining the real problem, structuring complex issues, building hypotheses, analyzing financial and strategic evidence, developing business cases, and communicating recommendations senior stakeholders can act on.
John’s professional background spans financial services, advisory work, private market transactions, sustainability frameworks, and product innovation, including experience connected to Morgan Stanley’s investment management environment. Across his courses, he has helped aspiring consultants, business analysts, managers, entrepreneurs, and strategy professionals build the structured judgement required for high-stakes business work.
His teaching is deliberately practical. Rather than presenting frameworks as theory, John shows how consultants use them to make decisions: clarify the objective, isolate the drivers, test the evidence, understand the economics, manage stakeholders, and translate analysis into action.
This course reflects that philosophy. Consulting is not about sounding intelligent in meetings. It is about bringing structure to uncertainty, evidence to debate, clarity to communication, and judgement to decisions that matter.

The early modules focus heavily on interview prep, then move into a case study section. But the foundational training on Porter's Five Forces, the 4Cs, and other frameworks you're expected to already know before tackling those case studies simply isn't there. The case studies themselves compound the problem. They're full of gaps, only go a couple of levels deep, and never show what "good" actually looks like. Most critically, the course skips the part that matters most: how to go from a blank page to selecting a strategy, and what level of detail is appropriate at each stage. That's the exact skill this course should be teaching, and it's missing.

You will build sharp analytical skills and save countless hours on complex projects. It is worth every penny.

This is by far one of the best courses for beginners looking to get into consulting. The course is exceptionally well structured, making even complex concepts easy to understand through clear, step-by-step explanations. What I appreciate the most is the incredible amount of effort the instructor and the team have put into creating such a comprehensive learning experience. The additional resources, curated reading materials, practical examples, and detailed explanations truly go above and beyond. Every concept is connected to real-world consulting scenarios, which makes the learning both engaging and highly relevant. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for putting together such a valuable course. The passion, thoughtfulness, and dedication behind this content are evident in every module. I'm genuinely grateful for the knowledge I've gained and am excited to continue learning. I look forward to taking many more courses from this team in the future!

Firstly, great course! Commences with a background, context of the job and the role, explains everything you need to know about consulting and then starts with a case study. Properly structured. It'd be even better if the instructor could provide us with the slides which he uses to teach, as it is replete with quality information :)

very well designed and delivered in friendly language, especially in the initial lectures. Though, I observed last few lectures were somewhat rushed but maybe that's just me as I ran through them considering they were very short. Hoping to revisit those later. All in all a very well planned and efficiently delivered course..

A well-structured course that goes beyond theory, building strong strategic thinking through practical frameworks, mental models, and real-world examples. The content is clear and engaging, especially in the initial modules. A great choice for both beginners and those refreshing their strategy fundamentals

This course goes beyond surface-level theory and gives you the mental models, case structures, communication strategies, and professional tools to think like a true consultant. If you're looking to build a strong, strategic foundation with depth, this is one of the best Udemy courses available.

This course really helped me understand the core of consulting and how consultants approach problem-solving in a structured way. Before taking it, I had a general idea of consulting, but this course made everything much clearer and more practical. What I found particularly valuable was how it explains how to tackle case interviews—especially how to break down problems, build solid frameworks, and communicate answers effectively. The step-by-step approach and real examples made it much easier to apply the concepts. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in consulting or preparing for case interviews. It’s a great foundation, especially for beginners.

This course is really well-structured and easy to follow. It helped me understand the core of management consulting, especially how to approach case problems and think in a structured way. As someone without a finance background, I didn’t think consulting was for me at first. But this course showed me that with the right guidance, I can actually understand and solve case studies. I can tell that the instructors really did put their genuine dedication into designing the course. Appreciate it! Overall, it’s very comprehensive and covers different types of cases. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in consulting or just wanting to improve their problem-solving skills. Great value for money!
