Course Description
Turn ambiguous business problems into executive-ready recommendations
Most managers and business analysts are not held back by a lack of data or frameworks. The harder part is turning an ambiguous business problem into a clear decision, focused analysis, a credible business case, and a recommendation that senior stakeholders can act on.
Updated for 2026, this course brings consulting problem solving, strategy, financial analysis, practical AI workflows, role play, and communication with senior stakeholders into one structured learning path. It combines the depth of a complete management consulting program with tools you can apply to real business decisions.

Build a repeatable consulting process
By the end of the course, you will have a structured way to move from messy business inputs to clear issue logic, analysis based on evidence, and a recommendation that can be presented to managers, clients, or senior leaders.
You will learn how to turn complex business problems into focused analysis, credible business cases, clear decisions, and recommendations that are ready for implementation.
Work through the complete Huntsman simulation
Through hands-on simulations, you will work alongside a fictional consulting team on a real client case involving Huntsman, a global manufacturing company.

Define the client's true problem
Structure the problem using the MECE principle
Develop hypotheses and issue trees
Build a detailed consulting workplan
Conduct structured data analysis
Synthesize the evidence into a clear story
Present a strategic recommendation deck with impact

John Burress
John Burress is a management consultant, strategy educator, and creator of one of Udemy’s leading management consulting training portfolios, reaching more than 220,000 students and supported by 28,000+ instructor reviews.
His work focuses on the practical disciplines behind high-quality consulting: defining the real problem, structuring complex issues, building hypotheses, analyzing financial and strategic evidence, developing business cases, and communicating recommendations senior stakeholders can act on.
John’s professional background spans financial services, advisory work, private market transactions, sustainability frameworks, and product innovation, including experience connected to Morgan Stanley’s investment management environment. Across his courses, he has helped aspiring consultants, business analysts, managers, entrepreneurs, and strategy professionals build the structured judgement required for high-stakes business work.
His teaching is deliberately practical. Rather than presenting frameworks as theory, John shows how consultants use them to make decisions: clarify the objective, isolate the drivers, test the evidence, understand the economics, manage stakeholders, and translate analysis into action.
This course reflects that philosophy. Consulting is not about sounding intelligent in meetings. It is about bringing structure to uncertainty, evidence to debate, clarity to communication, and judgement to decisions that matter.

Although I have just started the course, I already like its structure, especially the way it transitions between exploring concepts and directly applying them to business cases. It allows individuals to grasp and retain the information they are learning in a more efficient manner.

Brilliant content. Being in cybersecurity sales, I'm always looking for ways to provide more value to my customers and help them think differently about how they can best support their organizations in the long-term. This couse is helping me do exactly that.

This course has blown my mind. If you are in any business other than consulting, this will level up your game 2x. Consultants probably already know some of the concepts covered here, but there is a lot of practical know-how presented in a very clear and applicable way.

As a consultant practicing , this is the training I wish they provided at the Big4. The content is presented well with slides for the visual learners and progresses at a steady pace! Would recommend for those looking to understand what consulting is all about and to learn more about the actual skills needed as a consultant. Well done.

Wonderful course and clear communication style. I have been thinking about venturing in to consulting business for some time. This course gave me enough information about making that decision, especially on the financial module. I would recommend this course my colleagues.

An exceptional course! This is the 3rd course I have taken from John and as expected, it was incredible. No book can give you the kind of insights into management consulting that John's courses can provide. It covers not only frameworks and industry level details, but also softer yet key things like the different types of work cultures, communication styles, etc. All-in-all this is well worth the money!
