The course is great. You will learn quite a lot. However, it starts to show its age a bit. So, if you want to learn about code you will find in existing code bases, this is great. If you want to learn how to write code the "Modern C++" way, this course might not be for you. There are a few modern features explained but not so many. And then there is stuff, you should not write anymore, like C-style casts. ... But again. You will find them in existing code, so it might be good to know them. Also, the quizzes could use a bit of QA. Some questions and some answers are a bit fuzzy, meaning, you might know what answer is supposed to be the correct one and you will pass that question by selecting that, but technically more than one or just another answer is actually correct. Then there is the main() without the return type. I think this goes back to C89 and was changed in C99. Leaving out the return type of main() works only on Windows when using MSVC as your C++ compiler because Microsoft never bothered to update the underlying libc ... As far as I know, main() without the return type has never been correct C++. Also, the AI role plays did not work properly for me. I selected text-based interaction but then, my microphone was requested. Then the AI read all the source code, which was horribly formatted and it always stumbled over the syntax and made several seconds pauses between two words ... Not sure, might be something on my end but it felt weird struggling through the role plays due to these things. There is still lots of positives in this course and it is worth doing. Especially if you have an older code base in your company you want to get familiar with.
