Basics of Business Finance (Udemy.com)

The class is good, I'm finding a lot of familiar content such as the income statement and the balance. The use of terms in Rupees such as 5 cros, 5 lacks and others confuse me sometimes. It's a minor issue. I'm also getting familiar with advanced financial statements. Overall it's good.

would be helpful to be able to remove the speakers video so that the full screen is visible. would also be nice to be able to custom size the screen so that all portions can be viewed at the size most comfortable for the viewer. not able to access any of the resource documents. would be nice if the transcript had been proofed- the program did not transcribe the speakers accent well at all- many missed or incorrect words in the transcript.

Please make the course more generic so that it is more applicable to all countries, currencies and industries. It would be helpful if you remove the video of the speaker as that detracts from the content of the slides. Less live typing during the course as this, again, distracts from what the focus should be on - this can be achieved by including all relevant information already on the slide. In addition to this, please record a more seamless transition between each slide and have the correct header slide ahead of each session.

I like the simplicity of this course. I didn't like the fact that the money used was not in US dollars and that sometimes the examples used were not applicable or were not accurate to what he was explaining. Overall for a basic understanding it wasn't a waste of time.

Good basic summaries, with a balance of simple v more complex company examples. Presenter was to-the-point, but a little dry at times. Only issue was that it used an unfamiliar currency so slightly difficult to relate to, but otherwise a highly recommended short course for those who want to understand and speak with confidence about the basics of business/corporate finance.

The course is very well presented and the basic concepts are delivered in a such a way that is easily comprehensible but at the same time sufficient where the concepts can be carried over to real world financial analysis. Found this to be a great help.

Quick, to the point. It's both good and bad that the "lessons" seem unscripted. It's good because you can better understand his thought process, bad because it's a less efficient way to provide information. Watching at 1.5x speed is about perfect. The quiz questions are useful. I hope we can get more into using Excel and creating our own versions of income statements, etc. I will leave the final review at 3 stars because we never really built the final financial statement at the end. The course ends at the discussion of taxes.

But in addition to this you get 4 hours of excellent tuition from an industry expert, who turns the complex and high powered world of corporate finance into simple bite size chunks. The presenter, Mr. Mathews, explains the most important concepts in interpreting all three major financial statements in a very clear and articulate manner. He also works through the examples creating statements using Excel so that the viewers know how to use it in this context. Mastering Excel is one of the most sought-after skills that employers look for in potential candidates. My knowledge in financial analysis and accounting was a little rusty, but this course helped me clear things up and learn new concepts. He also uses a real income statement from an existing company. The only concern is that Mr. Mathews uses South Asian numbering units such as "crores" and "lakhs" in his lecture. While it did not bother me to learn a new concept, some people might find it to be a minor inconvenience. Living in the U.S., I would have preferred if Mr. Mathews had used an income statement from a company that uses American accounting standards since he uses one from Jubilant FoodWorks, which uses different accounting standards and layout. Nonetheless, this course provides the right knowledge at a great value. I will continue to refer to this video when I need to refresh my memory.
