Course Description

Want to learn about blockchain and cryptocurrency by building your own blockchain?
Want to practice your Python development skills by building an exciting project? =>This course is for you!
Why to Learn Blockchain?
Blockchain developers are in short supply and hot demand. The job of developing blockchain distributed ledgers for businesses was recently ranked first among the top 20 fastest-growing job skills. I believe that the fastest and easiest way to be involved in this fascinating new field is to get enough knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and then just immediately jump to the implementation and get your hands wet. That way you will be more confident in going deeper in understanding the blockchain technology and its potentials in developing the next generation decentralised applications. Who's teaching you?
I am a software development engineer with a passion for 'doing things better'. I enjoy setting high standards, constantly learning new things, and sharing that knowledge with others. I have mastered explaining very complex topics in a simple manner that is very understandable. Currently I am a lecturer and researcher in the university. The blockchain technology is one of my main research areas of interest and I am super excited to share my knowledge with you.
What's in the course?
Great question! Basically the course is divided in two parts:
In the first part we are going to explore the blockchain technology and its underlying components:
What is a Blockchain?
Hash Cryptography (SHA256)Immutable LedgerDistributed P2P NetworkHow Mining WorksConsensus ProtocolIn the second part we are going to actually build a blockchain and simulate the behaviour of bitcoin network by creating different nodes and different clients sending their transactions to the network:
Create the core BlockchainBuild an API around the BlockchainCreate a P2P network of nodesImplement a Proof-of-Work systemCreate a transaction system for a cryptocurrencyCreate a nice Web interfaceWhat are the course prerequisites?- Basic understanding of Python, JavaScript, CSS and HTML- Curiosity and desire to know about blockchain :)Is this course for you?
It's for you if ...- You're interested in Blockchain, the technology that underpins bitcoin, and you want to learn its core internals in order to be involved in this new promising and fast-growing technology.- You want to practise your Python development skills.- You want to broaden your horizon. Want to learn something new? Here you go!
Does that sound good to you? I'd be honoured to welcome you in this course! :-)Who this course is for:
Curious students or Python developers about blockchain and cryptocurrencies

easy and awesome

This course was great! He started off explaining the system and worked his way through how to create your own version! Got lots of insights on how to configure a blockchain of my owns

Good for beginners. I have learned a lot, although I had to look up a lot on my own as I have little programming knowledge in developing any kind of applications.

Thoroughly enjoyed this course from start to end.

Dr. Jaroucheh is very good at explaining what he is doing, what he wants the code to be doing, and explaining what the errors are if there are any. I also noticed that he answers most questions with the end-goal of helping the asker.

A lot a back and forth with some quick mistake caused me to make some mistake of my own while trying to correct code that was corrected live on the video.
I've been scratching my head for hours and could not sleep until I figured out my syntax errors.
I guess it's the full developer experience ;-)
At the sametime I am greatful that they are some issues that I have to figure out myself.
Also the nav class fixed-top caused an issue with overlap on other div but i've seen this before in css, the quick fix was to use top instead.
But great job and really thank you for this tutorial.
I am a very beginner at python, html, css, javascript, bootstrap and ajax and I really feel like I might be able to do this.
I realise also their was a lot of copy paste to save time and that means less time for explaining the code.
I did manage to break the consencus by testing many transactions.
I think it would be nice to have the blockchain stored in a file.
Also to have a node list text file or a P2P way to discover other nodes.
I also love to see how you would manage to store the addresses in a wallet.dat or something and to have wallet encryption.
I would love to see an example of POS method logic.
I really enjoyed this course.
Great job!
