Course Description

Ready to stop leaving projects unfinished and start achieving real results?

It's time to learn how to think like a producer. If you're like most people what's limiting you from the next step isn't really your main skill area - whether that's programming, writing, or otherwise - it's about learning how to use your time in a way that adds up to something releasable.

In this course, you'll learn how to use a simple process to avoid indecision or wasted effort while making continual progress towards achieving your bigger goals. No more feeling demoralized over hard work that never seems to go anywhere. You'll learn to plan effectively and stay on track to launch your long-term projects, every time.

Whether you want to start your own YouTube channel, set up a podcast, develop a video game, or something else entirely, the strategies you'll learn here can be applied to nearly any kind of project. Even better, you'll learn how to adapt your plans as you go, so instead of feeling anxiety around predicting the future you'll move forward with confidence that you're prepared to make the best of how things are playing out.

2 Full Productivity Audiobooks/Ebooks Included (Additional 7 hours 24 min Audio)

To help you even more, at the end of this course you'll receive two full productivity audiobooks (including the ebook transcripts!): Self-Command (run time 4 hours 54 minutes) and Self-Doubt (2 hours 30 minutes). These audio programs teach techniques and effective ways of thinking to help you follow through on the current task, as well as the tools to give yourself a chance doing something you've never done before. By combining those techniques with this course you'll have everything you need to not only set up a plan, but act on each step of it, and target your plans at goals you never thought possible.

These 2 audiobooks were developed separately, sold as a bundle for $41 with a 5/5 rating, but will be yours with this new video course at no extra cost. You'll be able to simply download the audio or ebook versions as the resources attached for the final section.

Stop letting indecision or wasted effort hold you back - enroll in this course today and start achieving the bigger results you've always wanted.

Responses to Self-Command and Self-Doubt, my two productivity audiobooks/ebooks both fully included with your purchase of this course (downloadable as the resources for the last section):

"Ever since I started Self-Command, I get so much more done in a day than ever before, with less unintended side tracking. I'm so very grateful for Chris' wonderful work. I highly recommend it."

-Sang Nguyen

"Several years after listening to Self-Command, Chris’ whiteboard technique continues to be central to my daily productivity. Having already been a bit of a nerd for productivity hacks and techniques, I found the techniques and mindsets Chris discusses to be really fresh and incredibly practical."

-Praneil Kamat

"I have diagnosed ADHD, so it's always hard to make decisions about how I should be spending my time. Self-Command gave me new tools to help cut through the noise and spend more of my time on things that matter... the things that I want to be doing."

-@Spriteborne

Game Designer

"Veteran shoutout for Chris's book Self-Command. Talks about solving a meaningful problem many of us have. If you find yourself struggling to start, I can not recommend it higher. We all know service jacks you up, especially with setting independent, meaningful goals. Check it out"

-@RethinkJeff

"Great book (Self-Doubt), even better than Self-Command - A++. Excellent format. Loved the often snappy-answers/reality checks for the quick answer, followed by the longer explanations. Truly great compilation of questions."

-Joe Cassavaugh

Puzzles By Joe

"As a mid 30's career changer, these addressed deep seated fears I have but didn't really want to articulate. I thought this [Self-Doubt] was great! A lot of value added for me, the answers had some great nuggets of wisdom. Especially because the ask is a little over 2 hours this is an easy recommendation I'd make to others as an addendum or expansion pack for Self Command."

-Jeremiah Franczyk

MMO Associate Systems Game Designer

"The last part - 'what if I don't see or feel myself making progress?' - was really good. The language is very understandable for me (English is not my first language). The pacing of the speech is spot-on."

-Barış Köklü

There were some decent insight and nuggets of knowledge from experience to glean from this course, however I feel like it could have been shorter by at least 30m in various places. Watching cards get shuffled around a trello board for 1 hour felt excessive.

By Gavin McCarthy on 1/21/2026

As a veteran game dev and artist, I have been using Trello to manage projects for years (both personal and group). This course has inspired me to try a new approach to organizing tasks and setting goals in a way that better visualizes the overall timeline. There is also some very valuable insight regarding the role of a producer, the descriptions of tasks, and the managing time and scope to hit launch dates and deadlines. If you are looking to step up your project management skill for any size or style of project, both personal and team based, this is a fantastic 5h investment of your time. Thanks Chris!

For someone inexperienced in organizing time and planning the steps for a project, this is a great first step! If your project happens to be a YouTube channel, video game, or podcast, then this is the course you’ll want to start with to get a sense of what the work ahead might look like. Even if you’re not working on one of those specific projects, the examples, while a bit heavy, still provide valuable insights. You’ll definitely learn about the overall tools, skills, and tasks a producer should handle, whether working solo or as part of a team!

Chris's course gave me a framework to finish any project. He builds the knowledge up step by step, so it's easy to follow and increase complexity as required. I will use this framework starting today (30/11/2024), not only for finishing my game demo by end of Jan 2025, but also for finishing the full game (Elgem TD). I can also see how this framework can help with my home projects, like decluttering or doing up the garden. I have even worked out how to implement the Kanban style board in Notion (add a text property called "Due date" and group by that). Thanks Chris!

Starting just from section 2, I applied Chris's method to my own personal projects and have seen tremendous advancements in just under a month. As someone who used to be really into productivity books and speeding up my workflow, I can say with confidence that his system legitimately work. One complaint I have is that Chris talks too fast sometimes. He speaks perfectly for the most part, but there are instances when he talked too quickly for me to understand. I know it is time consuming to implement, but captions would do wonders for these videos.

Definitely a different approach to planning than what I am used to. This course is great for people who are planning on working on ambiguous projects - those projects that scare you because there's a lot to do but you don't really know where to begin. Chris' approach makes it sooo much easier to get started rather than sweat over the particulars. I enjoyed taking this course. It exceeded my expectations for sure

This is by far one of the best productivity courses I've ever taken! Chris does a great job of breaking down the different concepts, approaches and resources in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Additionally, I liked the idea of about being your own producer as a wearing a different "hat" or code switching from your main role, and trying to balance the needs and expectations for both. I think that a crash course like this can be extremely valuable for game dev students or folks starting to work on team projects for the first time as it can help them avoid common pitfalls related to project management. I highly recommend the course and am excited to dive into the other resources now that I finished the class!

I am a person who oscillates wildly between hyper-organized and the human embodiment of chaos. As I like to say, "My ADHD is diagnosed." This class was a helpful tool to find signal in the noise, to turn half-baked ideas I had about how to organize, plan, and schedule into something actionable, meaningful, and useful both to myself and other people. There are no miracle solutions to getting things done, especially when you have brain cooties like mine, but I finished this class feeling motivated and focused. I am, in fact, taking a momentary break from building a brand new Trello for my current project just so I can leave a review that might help someone else find their way. This course's price tag is a steal for the level of guidance and expertise you're going to get from it.

By Jodijo Maman on 5/11/2023

I enjoyed the course as it helped me to understand that everything I do starts with the why and then the brainstorming in random order. The course also reiterated the fact that a project begins with writing all the steps down in no particular order and one can always use the Trello board to adjust and make changes as u move on and set due dates for each task. Thank you so much I also enjoyed the audio gift offered at the end of the course.

So I picked this course up on a compete whim. Got an email about a course to "Complete Every Project You Start" at a discounted price of $10. As a hobby game dev I naturally have a pile of projects that have been started and left unfinished, so I figure sure I'll bet $10 on being able to actually finish things for a change. I completed the course in just a couple weeks watching one video per day. In that time I've applied the knowledge gained to read all the through one of the many game programming books I have collecting dust, start working through some of my other Udemy courses, and kept on track with a game jam project as well as getting another stalled out game project back on track. Ultimately it'll be on me to stick with it and make using the process a habit, but so far the results have been amazing. So this course gets a solid thumbs up and is easily worth more than what I paid for it.
