To reach others and help the homeless to be a good samaritan in this distressed economical world. I myself live from check to check and to be depressed is a part of life, but you have to go on and look at each day as a new beginning. This course is an immense education for me, and I would like to share this course with others. I currently am taking a course to be a CHW and I believe helping others is helping myself. Thank you.

I am taking the course as a first line supervisor and am getting benefit out of the warning signs and how to communicate properly in the event of a crisis until I can get the person to our mental health professional team. The video quality is a bit static so that's why I didn't give the 5 stars.

By Erika Lebron on 9/29/2021

There was a lot of very valuable information in this course. However, by looking at the video quality, it does appear to be old, from the 80s or 90s I'd say. I'd like a more up-to-date course with more recent findings in crisis intervention research. Still, it is a valuable course to take.

I am a clinical Supervisor in the filed of Addictions. Crisis is often part of my everyday work. The detail with which the presenter taught the various steps, was eye opening and helps me to better label the steps I do routinely, each time crisis presents in the life of my clients. Thank you

To be quite honest, a major concern of mine is that this material seems to be over 20 years old. In order to serve our clients well we need to make sure that we are updating and in addition, making it useful to those outside of the country mentioned, and providing more instances when the client does not act as expected.

By Dawn Upfold on 1/26/2021

Clear, logical and deeply compassionate material, well-presented. I'm an alternative health professional who discovered that these skills are sometimes necessary to have for clients that must then be referred out to mental health professionals. Thank you Dr. King.

I purchased this course to fill in gaps in my experience. While I have come into contact with crisis situations, I have typically had the support of supervisors or other colleagues. As I transition into a solo practitioner space, I felt it important to address this gap in a meaningful way. This course was able to provide theoretical, and practical knowledge. I am confident that I will be able to retain and implement this information in real life situations. I have already recommended this course to others in my practitioner network.

I find this interesting and although I felt knowledge on topic was well articulated, relevant, and applicable, I had issues viewing the program, which was no fault of udemy, but just personally made it difficult for me. This was my first course through Udemy, and I would definitely take more in future, I have already chosen a few for future knowledge.

Dr. King's presentation on Crisis intervention was very thorough and thought provoking. Useful in clinical settings but also useful for the layperson. Dr. King breaks down the problem solving skills needed by a crisis intervention counselor. He speaks of the assessment process, stages of a crisis, the characteristics of such, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. and also when there is a need for hospitalization, and much more. But the presentation would not be complete without the clinical counseling .techniques that Dr. King speaks about including communication skills. I would recommend this seminar to anyone, professional or layperson. It will be well worth the time and effort to take notes and listen carefully. There is so much learn.... and I teach about psychiatric illness myself. But yes, I learned much too. Thank you, Dr. King!
