Data Modeling and Relational Database Design using ERwin (Udemy.com)

The course was ok but could be far better if some more topics were covered and gone more in depth. I feel only 30-40% of the data modeling and ERWin functionalities are covered in this course. Having said that, whatever that 30-40% topics are, they are very well described and explained.

This is a well presented course, with good examples. my only issue is that some of the examples aren't realistic e.g. in the example of Super Type and Sub Type, the relationship between a parent and a child is shown as optional and yet in reality a parent by definition means there must at least be 1 child. Also, the student exercises don't cover all of the topics covered which means no practice.

Really great content.. Normal forms explanation is superb. I was aware of normal forms but this explanation provided new horizon. Kudos to you. Thank you... Why not 5*, 4NF and 5 NF not covered, I see there are many option in Erwin that are not covered. you could also include data modelling ways Kimbal vs Inmon..

I was expecting the tutor to show how to convert an existing raw model or ER model, like retail banking that he has shown in the initial lectures, into a dimensional model. Instead he directly has shown an example dimensional model. Morever, he presumed that learners would know technical terms like surrogate key. He should have explained what a surrogate key is.

This course gives us a fundamental base and confidence to start working on DB models. However, i feel we needed much more case studies and assignments to get hands on experience, more focussed approach on the various functions or options that can be used from the ERwin tool to solve normalisation constraints etc.,

He is brilliant. Harris has great knowledge on the Data Modeling concepts and implementation of the same in the real world. His teachings were so clear on ERWIN tool and also on the concepts. I would highly recommend this course for people who wants to learn ERWIN.
