Discover the I Ching #1: Inner Guidance for Any Question (Udemy.com)

I was underwhelmed. I feel there should have been more treatment and discussion on the origins of I Ching. It felt like most of the course was of personal anecdotes and pop psychology. If I found that I get epiphanies and support from Iching, I will come back and change my review. Okay, the I Ching has been incredibly wrong with nearly every reading. I'm doing this per the instructions, and the advice always seems to have no relevance to the outcome. I believe I am at fault for not using the correct technique, and I believe this course is at fault for not teaching me this technique correctly. I deserve a better connection to the universe.

Loved the course, the teachers and the content.. I read the I Ching many years ago but had a lot of troubles with 1) how to formulate the questions 2) how to choose between the endless resources available ... This course is excellent in both these areas, and gives a very guided and approachable introduction to the I Ching. Despite the teachers seem to reed the text on screen (great texts by the way), and still transmit very well the human part behind.. I like this so much more than reading a book on the subject for example), the not so natural backgrounds (although the graphics they put to illustrate what they talk about are very catchy), and some repetitive ideas like the life saving part, which is anyway an interesting story, :) I Loved the course, I found it very clear, straightforward to follow, full of good references (Carl Jung, Jean Shinoda, Philip K. Dick for example) .. Great phrase from Goethe .. I liked their honest, practical and useful approach .. Although I would personally not read the I Ching as a shopping guide, I have learned to see the I Ching in a whole new way, and started to use it again with a curious and respectful approach :) Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, my deepest admiration for the teachers quest and the energy put on creating this course

For the last two years, I've been contemplating learning how to do the I Ching. I've worked with the tarot before, and her the I Ching mentioned here and there. I never paid much attention to it, but last year I purchased a book on the I Ching from Amazon that was on sale. The book itself was very basic and self-explanatory and nowhere near as good as the ones recommended in this course in my opinion. The book was important because intuitively I knew I had an interest in the I Ching. With Covid 19, I knew I wanted to find something to do and wasted the first part of my quarantine play video games. I decided to purchase this course as I knew I was being very unproductive with the time I had. This course is set up in an ideal way. It gives you background on the I Ching, personal experiences with the I Ching from the instructors, explanations of what the terms and set up mean, the means to understand how to do a reading and interpret the reading on a basic level, practice the skills required to do an interpreter reading, and suggested materials to assist not only with your present level of readings, but also information which will allow you to explore deeper and more in depth about the I Ching. This course is the first of three, and I purposely waited to write this review until after I finish the second course. My rationale was I felt having the information from the second course would help me better understand the material from the first course as well as the thought process behind the materials in the first course and highly differentiated from the second course. I'm glad I did that because I can clearly see that this course gives you everything you need to do I Ching readings and in that sense, your set up and it's easy. However, there is so much depth to the I Ching and so much more to know and use that you could really spend an entire lifetime attaining all the different aspects of the I Ching. If I'd written the review after taking the first course, I would've missed this insight which I know was critical to my understanding. After this first course, I was able to give myself and I Ching reading, understand how to use the materials to be able to give myself or anyone else a reading from the I Ching, and from what I know now, that reading would have been insightful but also limited by the amount of knowledge I had. I can't recommend this course enough for anyone who wants to understand the I Ching on a basic level and be able to implement it for use with yourself or others. It's very well laid out, easy to understand, and personable which makes you feel connected to what the instructors are saying.

I never believed in divination. I am rather a solidly material person. I study on Udemy mostly scientific subjects and I never pay any attention to such subjects. This time I came across this course and some mysterious urge pushed me to 'see what is this I Ching'. I watched the free preview and I was attracted to the teachers because they have a realistic scientific attitude and not that which you usually find in people who deal with metaphysical issues. I did not waste time. I have finished this course in one session and that tells you what I can not describe in words. Not only the course was an intimate one but the teachers as well!! This is the first time I ever felt in an online class as if somebody is with me, in my room talking to me, so real so convincing. The joke is not here at all. The joke is that I have been struggling with a potential decision for quite a few days, and I had no idea that this air-born course would do just that!! I never believed in miracles, but what has been happening to me seems like one! Still the joke is not finished yet! I have asked my friend that she tosses three coins in order and sends me the results. She was like: are you Ok honey? :-) :-) Actually because she knows me for many years and she knows how I think. Anyway, I did my tosses and she did hers. Mine were: GO FOR IT NOW, THE ROOF IS FALLING..!! And the Final part of the joke was her judgement: Decision: "Relief. Favorable in the southwest. Nowhere to go— Come back, return to normal. Good fortune. Somewhere to go— No delay: good fortune." Is this for real?? I started the course yesterday, and I have never in my life been as comfortable to make a life changing decision in my life more that I am today. This is my real experience and I leave it to the reader to arrive at a conclusion, as I never arrived at one myself, but THE CHING BROUGHT THE CONCLUSION TO ME!! Good Luck course takers, I had an exceptional experience and I wish you have the same!!

This course is so well constructed that it could be a standard example for the way Udemy classes should all be assembled. The material was beautifully presented, interesting and engaging. I have prior knowledge of this topic but I still learned so much and feel honored to have participated in this class with these folks. The only small feedback I could offer is that I wish information about "moving lines" was offered earlier in the course so a beginner would know what it was before discussion was offered in one of the text lessons on the topic. Actually, I would love if you make additions to the course to hear more about the changing energy of the moving lines. Thank you both for a fabulous course! I loved it!

This is my first review on udemy. Last year i had joined udemy i took lots of courses but left in middle reason i was totally disappointed reason lecture not on topic sound quality not good & in Q&A no reply if some teacher replied but reply was on different track as teacher was not amateur in that subject. after few months i went for this "I Ching" course, i purchased it. but i was skeptical & after 1 week i left it then again i don't know what came in my mind, again i purchased the "I ching" course . due to my mother's illness i was not getting time to go through the lectures. but from 2 week i am going through the course each lecture i am listen 2 to 3 times & its 97% completed. About course it was wonderful explanation by Ron & Debbie with clear & right amount of information for beginners & it was beautiful way to introduce us to this beautiful sage "I ching" & make it understand. Ron & Debbie lectures were not too fast & was on topic & all graphic & backgrounds was fun & I enjoyed learning with them & thank you to be active on Question & answer. In most of udemy courses I am waiting for reply from months but Ron is amazing Quick reply. They made me engaged in this course & again & again I am going through each lecture. Regarding "Guru" (teacher) i am very fortunate in my life i had met very few best teachers who had touched my soul. Now "Ron Masa" had touched my soul. For my i ching "Guru Ron Masa" "Guru Brahma Gurur Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwaraha Guru Saakshat Para Brahma Tasmai Sree Gurave Namaha" Meaning: Guru is verily the representative of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance. I salute such a Guru. I enjoyed the course & i highly recommend it.

I am presently learning Eastern Astrology and was curious to learn about other forms of practices and subjects that will help connect with the inner self. While mantras, meditation etc are some of the tried and tested methods that I am aware, also wanted to ensure that I try out these methods as well. The lessons are well structured, well explained and the authors also provide guidance on their choice of books which makes life easier for beginners. In the next version, I expect this to get linked to Astrology so that this can be used for more accurate and realistic predictions

Although I do have much experience consulting the I Ching, this course gives a structure & clarity that I was seeking while working on my own, or with guidance from scholarly books. The I Ching language is ancient & translating into 21st century terms can sometimes be a challenge. I found this course simplifies its use in modern terms, & was just the vehicle I needed to forge ahead with more ease. I did notice that your method of recording the coin toss hexagram lines directly opposed what I had previously learned & read about. For example, in my system 2 heads & a tail would be a yang line, while in your system the same would be a yin line. I checked in one of my books whose system is the same as mine & the author said that the system could be reversed as a matter of preference as long as what made sense was used consistently. I don't know if mentioning this variation in methods would confuse or enlighten beginning students but thought it might be worth a mention. I look forward to your next I Ching course. Thank you!

For me, the course is an excellent introduction to the I Ching. I found it to be well structured, delivered clearly and unambiguously by both presenters who are excellent communicators, and is paced neither too fast or too slowly. The content is well chosen with sufficient variety -- and nicely salted with Ron's occasional dry humour -- to maintain interest and prevent boredom. The well chosen and well executed graphics greatly enhance the course. And what a magnificent library-cum-study they chose as the setting from which to present the course. I want one for my birthday! I'll certainly be amongst the first to sign up for the proposed follow-up course. Hopefully it will be available some time later this year. And PLEASE ensure the more advanced course includes guidance and help for the vexed issue of interpreting the I Ching's comments for whichever hexagram is identified as the response to a question. I know that's a big ask as there's no one-size-fits-all, but even so you both have the teaching skills to offer helpful guidance, using examples, of course. The 12 months of your life-span preparing this course were definitely well spent. Very well done, both of you! And thank you, Debbie and Ron.

I have been interested in I Ching for years, but when I looked at the classic texts, I was overwhelmed so I never really tried it out. This course gave a lot of intro material about the I Ching in general (& had some wonderful photos of China at the beginning) There are good handouts for suggested texts and charts for finding the hexagrams. The explanation for actually throwing coins and doing a reading are at the end of the course and are very straight forward. I have done several readings now and am becoming familiar with the I Ching texts I have. So, I am very pleased with the course. If you are already familiar with I Ching, it may be too simple. But, if you want an introduction, I found this to be easy and fun and I feel confident about working with I Ching. Perhaps they will do another course that includes some more detailed info, perhaps on throwing sticks, etc.
