Course Description

This course is run by our veterinarian, Dr Katherine, and will equip pet owners with the basic knowledge they need to help their pets in emergencies. It includes a series of explanatory videos, demonstrations with the one and only Delilah the Pitbull, and printable instructions for assembling your own pet-friendly first aid kit at home. We've thrown in a few quizzes to help with learning, too! Dr Katherine will conduct live sessions to take questions and respond to comments about the material. Please note that this is not intended to replace veterinary advice and you should always seek veterinary attention in case of emergency.

Most of the information felt like common knowledge. Might be a great class for someone getting their first pet but someone looking for more in-depth information should look for an advanced class.

I had some concerns about typos and some blips in videos and voice overs. I think the quizzes could have been more powerful if they recapped on key information in the responses to answers submitted

Overall good, but some errors in audio and one misstated question in the quiz for food and household items to avoid. A couple of slides have typos.

this course was very informative and i now feel much better having first aid knowledge when it comes to my 4 legged children. kudos to the professor and her trusty 4 legged assistant.

The information is given in simple terms to understand and relate to. Everything is manageable to the novice giving them confidence handling many instances especially emergencies.

Yes, I own a Dog Grooming Parlour and this knowledge could be helpful in case of an accident in the Parlour or a seizure etc. In addition, many people often call me after hours as a first point of contact when a pet is ill or hurt. Delilah is Delightful xxx

There was a great deal of valuable information contained in this course. However, there was quite a bit of dead air waiting for the instructor to continue and there were times when there was recording that didn't sync with the instructor's voice and a lecture was started one place and then restarted and repeated in the next lecture. That being said, I would still recommend this course based on the content, resources and knowledge of the instructor.

One session played twice and the question about Raw Meat and Eggs is incorrect, The lecture said not to feed Raw Meat and Eggs but the exam said you should. I though maybe use a CPR Dog to effectively demonstrate CPR instead of a dodgy simulation on a real dog.

By Kristie Middleton on 3/20/2014

This info is vital for any pet owners. The course content was really helpful -- I took notes and learned a lot. Dr. van Ekert Onay is really knowledgeable about the subject matter and presents the information in an easy to understand way.

This course is excellent with helpful tips on preventing harm to pets and managing illness and injury. The use of Delilah the dog as a model for pet CPR is worth checking out. She is super cute.
