Our take
Based on the ratings of 3,540 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in November 2024. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short, single-section intro to Google Cloud: about 4 hours across 35 lectures, with 17 quizzes. It starts with account setup, the free trial and budget alerts, then moves through Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage and Kubernetes Engine. Nothing is required going in. It suits managers, career changers and anyone sizing up GCP, rather than people who want to build things on their own. Nothing in the listing sells it as exam prep.
Reviewers keep coming back to the pace. Rick Crisci speaks slowly and clearly, uses simple examples, and one reviewer evaluating GCP for their company said it gave them the overview they needed. Another said it also cleared up questions about Azure and AWS. The complaints are consistent too. The course was last updated in November 2024, and a 2026 viewer could only follow along in the console for about half of it before Google's menus changed. Others say the content is thin for a paid course, leans heavily on virtual machines, and feels disconnected from lecture to lecture.
The rating is healthy: 4.6 from 3,540 reviews, with most scores at four or five stars. The three-star group is mostly about depth and age, not the teaching. Treat it as a guided tour and expect to watch more than to click along. If you want a first look before deciding on GCP, it fits. If you want hands-on skills or a certification, plan on a follow-up course. One reviewer also pointed out that free resources cover some of the same ground.
Pros
- Instructor speaks slowly and uses simple examples, which beginners say makes the ideas easy to follow
- Short lectures and 17 quizzes make the 4 hours of material easy to fit in and check
- Starts with account setup, the free trial and billing budgets, a practical first step
- Gives a broad map of key GCP services without overwhelming detail
Cons
- Last updated November 2024, and reviewers say the Google console no longer matches the screens
- Heavy on virtual machines, with less time on the other services, according to one 3-star reviewer
- Some reviewers say the basics are available free elsewhere and the episodes feel disconnected
Yes, the concepts were taken very slowly and clearly for beginners like me. Absolutely recommended
Truly beginner level: no prerequisites listed, and reviewers with zero cloud background say it moves slowly enough.

I found this course to be a very solid introduction to Google Cloud. It covers a wide range of core concepts without going into overwhelming detail, making it an excellent starting point for anyone new to GCP. Rick is a clear and engaging instructor, easy to listen to and very easy to follow. The explanations are straightforward and well structured, which makes the learning experience smooth, especially for beginners. I haven’t completed the hands-on labs yet, but I plan to go through the course again from the beginning and follow along practically this time. One thing to be mindful of is that the course was last updated in 2024, and as we’re now in 2026, some parts of the platform may have evolved. That’s not a criticism of the instructor, just something to keep in mind when working through the exercises. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this as a foundation course and will be looking at other courses Rick has produced, particularly any updated versions.

This course covered a step by step process on learning the basics of the GCP tool, and its capabilities. However, since it was made in 2024 ( I am watching in 2026), I was only able to step by step mirror this lesson to about the halfway mark. After that, Google has made category and UI changes that were not easy to guess myself into to follow along on my own GCP instance so I just watched the rest of this lesson vs going hands on.

I am evaluating Google Cloud Platform for my company and needed an overview to help me with this. This course delivered on that. The instructor speaks slowly and clearly and explains everything very well. I highly recommend the course to anyone who needs an overview of Google Cloud Platform.

The topics are very thoughtfully designed and perfectly structured. More importantly, the explanations stay focused and clear, without any unnecessary or unrelated examples — it makes the content easy to follow and truly effective.

This was a very good course, but I feel like the author is still building the content. There was not any real "wrap up" at the end other than a plug for more courses. I feel like there could be a better description of how this course prepares you for the first Google Cloud certification.

Good introduction and presentation goes into enough details. But there are some issues with quiz where at least 2 or 3 times I've seen questions targeting knowledge that wasn't presented till that quiz and it was from future lessons - this is not frustrating or serious but it shows a little lack of attention to asked questions.
By Anonymized User on 1/21/2025
Very informative - I wish there had been fewer quizzes as that interrupted the continuous play that I was trying to do. Also, it was a little slow for me so I watched on 2x. But that worked great!

I think that the best way to learn is by hands-on. This course includes explanations and demos for each subject which is great! The explanations are clear and the resources for each demo are very helpful. Great course for beginners that summarize the basics very well!

It gives the flavors of various GCP available services and a kick start to those who know anything about GCP. However there is no explanation on what cloud is and why rather its a straight hands on experience class which is much required. He have covered as much as all the necessary things under GCP
