Our take
Based on the ratings of 78,102 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Justin Barnett's course is a 6.7 hour tour of generative AI, spread over 73 lectures in six sections. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude for text, Midjourney, DALL-E and Adobe Firefly for images, and a section on how transformers and GANs work. The last section is for developers and walks through the OpenAI API and fine-tuning GPT 3.5. No programming is required for most of it. The audience list points at entrepreneurs, marketers and content creators who want a map of the field rather than mastery of one tool.
Reviewers like it as an introduction. One says the instructor is experienced and explains things clearly, and another calls it useful for anyone in an IT role. About nine in ten of the ratings are four or five stars, with 4 stars the most common after 5. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found too much theory and said some tools, Playground AI for example, are outdated. The same person felt Adobe Firefly gets pushed harder than it should. Another found it too heavy on content creation and backend coding, and one says a few videos move slowly.
The course was last updated in January 2026, which helps, but tool-heavy courses age fast and one reviewer asks for discontinued models to be removed. At under seven hours, it skims across many tools rather than drilling any of them. It suits readers who want orientation before choosing which AI tools to learn properly. If you already use ChatGPT daily and want advanced prompting practice, a narrower course will serve you better.
Pros
- Covers text and image tools in one place, from ChatGPT and Gemini to Midjourney and Firefly
- One reviewer calls the instructor very experienced and says he explains Gen AI well
- Optional developer section: 17 lectures on the OpenAI API and fine-tuning GPT 3.5
- Updated January 2026, and about nine in ten ratings are four or five stars
Cons
- One reviewer calls it theory heavy, and one section spends 100 minutes on how transformers work
- Some tools are dated, such as Playground AI, and discontinued models linger in places
- One reviewer says Adobe Firefly is pushed hard, and another found some videos slow
Training was amazing as introduction to the Gen AI. The trainer was very experienced who explained it very well.
Beginners are well served and no coding is needed, though the final section is aimed at developers.

Course Description
This course is designed to teach participants how to use cutting-edge language models ChatGPT, Google Gemini, DALL-E 3, Meta Imagine, and Midjourney to create a wide range of written content, including blog articles and code. The course will begin with an introduction to the basic concepts of these models and how they work. Participants will then learn how to use these models to generate text, including how to fine-tune them for specific tasks and how to use them for creative writing. In addition you will learn how to use GPT Builder to create your own GPT to share or list on the GPT Store. And with under the hood lessons, students will learn more about how the underlying transformers models generate text, how Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) generate images, and encoder models allow LLMs to process prompts at a deeper level
In addition to learning how to use these models for writing, participants will also learn how to use them to generate generative new artwork. This will include learning about the different types of generative art that can be created using these models, as well as how to use them to create images, videos, and other forms of media.
Throughout the course, participants will work on hands-on projects, such as writing a blog post, creating a code snippet, coding a website, write engaging sales & website copy, and generating a piece of artwork. The course will also include exercises and quizzes to help solidify the concepts covered
By the end of the course, participants will have a deep understanding of how to use LLMs (Large Language Models) like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Dalle-3, Midjourney, Playground AI, and Adobe Firefly to create a wide range of written content and generative new artwork. They will be able to use these models to create their own written content and artwork, and will have the skills and knowledge to continue learning and experimenting with these powerful tools.
Join us to navigate the AI-powered waters of the future, and position yourself at the forefront of innovation. With our course, you'll not just ride the wave of the AI revolution—you'll be leading it.

Excellent course for beginners and professionals alike. The concepts of AI, Generative AI, and prompt engineering were explained clearly with practical examples. The hands-on exercises helped me understand how to write effective prompts and get better results from AI tools. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their AI skills.

Videos feel rushed. Instructor explanation is not specific to course concepts and objectives. Initial videos are more like marketing tools not meant for learning.

So far so good. However some introduction to a topic is appreciated before talking about the difference with something else.

This course is really great :-) I am a first time learner and so do not know anything about using AI. This really helped in my journey to learn Generative AI. I would like to add that it would be great to also throw in, somewhere in the course, what platforms to upload in order to use AI. Meaning, if I need to use AI, what sort of applicable apps do I need to have in order for one to start using it. Hope I am making sense ;-)

Many of the sections covered seemed to be redundant. This could only be relevant to my particular course of study. Section 6 was supposed to be optional; however, I had to take it for overall course completion.

I have learned a lot from this course! I use the knowledge I gained in this course every day. I use it for creating detailed labels for my garden and have written a few books with pictures. Highly recommend!

The training was easy to understand from a beginner's standpoint. The trainer was informative but causal in his delivery of the material.
