Course Description
Interviewing is carried out on a frequent basis across the globe. Investigative interviewing is the narrower band of criminal & disciplinary enquiry although it still connects with the fundamental process of speaking to people.
Often steeped in mystery and conjecture the thought of conducting such a process fills many with fear and trepidation.
This entry level course provides the practical tools to enable you to confidently conduct an investigatory interview with both witnesses and those individuals that may have contravened your organisations disciplinary code or are subject of a grievance and reach a decision that is both fair and lawful.
Used widely across the business community and the public sector the same elements have been adopted by the UK Police.
Ian Kirke is the Managing Director of leading UK Risk Consultants TFS (www.tfsuccess.com).
"TFS is providing Hertfordshire with a bespoke "out-of-custody" interview package to enable us to train all our uniformed response and neighbourhood officers. This training is providing officers with skills in recognising when out-of-custody interviews should be staged, how to stage such an interview, interviewing both cooperative and non-cooperative suspects, and dealing confidently with legal representatives; all in all professionalising and adding a consistency to out-of-custody interviewing in Herts.”
Shane O'Neill, Detective Chief Inspector, Hertfordshire Constabulary
What others have to say:
“As an experienced LP professional I believe that that the TFS approach to interviewing is like a breath of fresh air. The process driven methodology provides a practical framework that can be used to match all investigatory outcomes from low level disciplinary & grievance procedures to complex criminal investigations. An invaluable tool providing a significant ROI for investigators, especially those with limited experience, I highly recommend the programme.”
Gary Tattersall, Group Risk Manager, Jack Wills
“As an experienced investigator working within an ever changing company, time considered for investigations has always proven to be limited. The TFS investigation and interview techniques offer a structured process that is easy to follow, quick to prepare and gets the results required whilst demonstrating a clear understanding of investigations in business and knowledge of employment law. I also liked the approach to the training, particularly with the role-play exercises, it makes it go beyond just theory.”
Leyton, Morgan Head of Business Protection at Sally Salon Services

I required some guidance on how to structure internal investigations, and to support my team in doing so. Led by internal policies and procedures, I felt a little more structured guidance was required. This course has helped somewhat to ensure we think outside of the box.

“interview” in this course is limited to in person or face to face interview. I personally work by phone interview and the challenge is not the silence but the stalling (ie. after asking a question that catches the interviewee, the interview asks me to hold or says the line is not clear or they’re driving etc., to buy themselves time to look for the “right” answer. I see how this course could be helpful to others who will be doing investigative interviews in a law enforcement, but it was not applicable to me.

The course is exactly what I have been looking for to assist with interviewing difficult or unresponsive respondents. This is going to be of great help to me, and I can't just wait to learn more. Thank you.

This course has helped me, put in order, my thoughts, the facts and just in general a new way to process an interview. I have been involved in interviews but never had the lead including the chance to do the initial leg work. Should there come a time that I need to conduct an interview of this nature, I now have the basic knowledge and understanding to be affective.

I have 20 years in experience in Forensic Investigations and I conduct cognitive Interrogation Interviews all the time, in person, on audio and on Video. On spite of this, I can always learn - especially from people in other areas, disciplines or countries. In this case, I am happy to report that - once again - I learned.

This is very relatable to corporate interviews I have worked. Thanks for using a real scenario on the course. I learned many techniques that I look forward to utilizing in my next interview. I now have a plan!

I wouldn't describe this as a course - it is more a brief overview of interviewing skills and I am not sure it's worth the price....I did enjoy the gentleman giving the lecture; he was clearly very experienced and had a delightful accent.

This is the equivalent of a class, not a course. The instructor knows very well his subject, and how to deliver information appropiately. The quality of the content is very good. Unfortunately, the quantity of the content is low. Incredibly short videos and almost no text at all. The author should take a look at other learning platforms because for the price he may be giving too little. The certificate does not look professional, this is also something that Udemy has to improve.

The course addresses the law in a practical, no fuss way; then breaks the complex topic of interviewing into understandable, bite size pieces. I really liked the straight forward, no-nonsense sessions by Mr Kirke and have already put the learning into practice. What else do you have to offer??
