Learn to Play Chess: from a Novice to a Fierce Competitor (Udemy.com)

As a new chess player, I've struggled with checkmating at the end of games. This course did an excellent job of helping me to see which pieces and positions I need in order to checkmate efficiently. I also love the walkthrough of both how to checkmate quickly and also how to defend against quick checkmates.

Course is pretty straight forward at least until section 5, Bonus Materials in section 6 onwards got highly technical in my opinion and so could be a little intimidating especially for absolute beginners trying to figure out what's exactly happening. Overall I'm quite pleased to have gone through this course as it seems to be the only available course on Udemy as of now that deals with learning chess. Thank you Dr Alex.

Dr A;ex, I love this course However, no matter how many times I typed -----chessmates.dralex,tv/learn/ to launch Chessmates COMPANION software at the site, I was not able to do so. It was hard for me to continue my lessons without completing #15 and not having this experience. Can you please direct me to this situation? I attempted to launch your website using the Microsoft Edge browser. I greatly appreciate your response ASAP.

This may be a short course but it packs a punch because you get access to the Chess Mates website that is there for you to solidify what you have learned. Chess is an easy game to learn but it’s difficult to play and win. Grand Masters have devoted thousands of hours to studying, practicing, analysing games and competing against other great players… This course gives you enough information to play and win a game of chess.

The teacher and his students explain everything very clearly. They guide you from the beginning teaching how to play. The only thing i was a bit disappointed it is the software that you can download. I was thinking i would be able to play normally but you can only repeat and practice what they teached you...that is useful anyway. It is a great course, before i didn't know anything about chess and now i am able to play... Thank you very much!

the basics are explained well, however the strategies could only be enjoyed with 2 examples - not much for the practice to feel any confidence

I didn't learn anything until section 5. Under estimated my own knowledge of the game. The production value could be better but it doesn't concern me. From section 5 onwards I found the information far more useful. Some great explanations and examples offered, highlighting strategic choices and aiding decision making. The additional content, added recently, was a real bonus. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the breakdown offered and it helped me better understand how strategic thinking and pattern recognition, is a vital ingredient to ones own improvement of the game. Mr Alex Davidovic seems really passionate about chess and he is explaining in a way that anyone would understand.
