Makeup Basics: Learn Eye Makeup Today! (Udemy.com)

Learned a number of helpful tips. Was certain I knew how to apply mascara because I've been doing it for years but learned that I was doing it wrong for my prominent eyes. Would like to see a course focused on applying eye shadow on different shape eyes. Especially for people like me who want to make their eyes look smaller. So many YouTube videos focus on the opposite.

Too much talking about different products. Should have a lot more information about different eye shapes and how to work with them. Too much repetition. Would have been so much better to apply on another person instead of yourself. I don’t feel like I have learned anything new or anything I couldn’t have learned for free from YouTube. Overall the eye liner really didn’t look that good when the lady practiced on herself. There wasn’t really any technique. Sorry.

I gained more knowledge about eye makeup application in this course than I have in many years searching in other courses and makeup counters. I love it. The eye makeup sheets were very helpful. I'm finally able to get the look I want in my eye shadow. The application techniques were very spot on and I could use the techniques right away. I love this course!!

This course is very much aimed at a beginner or someone who wants to go from a quick dash of eye shadow and a lick of mascara to a more polished look rather than someone who can already apply eye makeup well and is looking for a course on how to achieve different looks. If you are looking for something far more in depth and detailed than what you find on youtube then this is perfect for you Laura is very precise in her instructions making sure that you know EXACTLY where to apply product, how to apply it and why. I can already see where I have been going wrong and i'm barely half way through! Some reviews state that she spends too long reviewing products but I didn't feel that this was the case. I found the lecture on brushes and primers really useful ....the lecture on choosing eye shadow went on a bit too long in my opinion but I just moved on to the next lesson when I'd had enough. I feel so much more confident already and I haven't even go to the liner section yet. Thanks Laura!

As I listened to the introduction to this course, I heard comments like, "I was never taught", "I don't know what I am doing so I don't try". I thought Laura was looking through my monitor and right into my soul because everything she said I have said for felt for why I don't wear eye make up more often. The course was easy to follow and had a lot of in-depth instruction for basic technique. I am thrilled that she covered drug store options as well as department store options because I definitely didn't want to feel as though I had to spend a fortune before I knew what I was doing. I am not a pro yet, but feel a little more confident than before viewing the course. I'm sure more practice will help.

Really enjoyed this course. I was looking for something a little more detailed than the kinda videos you find on YouTube. This was it. It broke down all the basics and answered a lot of my questions. The instructor is also quite responsive. Even though this course is some years old, she still responds to any questions posted today. Overall happy with this course. :)

Your eye make-up course was well presented. You did not rush like you were nervous but you spoke clearly, distinctly and demonstrated confidence. I am very well pleased with your delivery and total presentation. I think you have young girls in mind as well as other who need to know the basics. Your course was well organized, unfolded logically and was easy to understand.

I find Mrs. Hix to be very educated in her profession. She uses herself as your example, has a very natural flow to her speech and conveys an honest interest in my success. One of the things I very much appreciated was that she states why she chooses a given product for her own use - you can see she is using her own make up stash to demonstrate and is up front that she is not sponsored by any company. You can also tell this is true from the vast array of companies she selects from in her examples and personal use. The total Beginning Eye Makeup course is a little over 3 hours (broken down into anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 minute easily digested segments) and is usually $29.00 though you can at times get it for $19.00. I did my research. A basic makeup class for a night out look costs $60 and that was the lower costing class from a wide selection of vendors online. So I can say this was not only worth my time (and I did take my time taking this course when I could fit it into my busy schedule) but also my expense - an investment in myself. I know I will be buying access to this class for my daughters (adults) and recommending it to my friends and family as an honest to goodness worthwhile gift.

I am very excited about this eye makeup application series. I am elderly and have not been able for the past few years to apply makeup that looks natural. I've always looked harsh, overly "made up", not soft and becoming as I want to appear. Laura takes her time when she conveys how to apply makeup and demonstrates the process thoroughly. I am impressed with her ability to hold a person's attention, know just when to repeat a stage, and give tips to others as she performs the task for each session of her course. I feel as though I could follow each step successfully now, and I know I owe this feeling to this instructor, Laura Hix. I would rate this series with an A++ Thank you so much! :-)
