The lectures are great, but in order to really learn this stuff, you need assignments. You need to include labs. A good practice assignment for "strace" would be providing 5-6 small, broken programs. Tell the students what the expected output of the program is and have them use strace to figure out why it isn't working. You learn this stuff by having to apply it (in meaningful ways) and there are a lot of students on here who aren't going to a University for Computer Science.

Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate. Currently an embedded software engineer working at a leading automotive technology company. I am primarily interested in the software side of hardware. New to creating courses, but eager to improve on how Ipresent and convey the topics in a clear and concise way.
Iam always working on side projects to expand my knowledge on topics such as computer architecture. Knowledgeable on: parallel computing, systems programming, micro controllers, electrical systems and electronics.
