Great introduction chapter for what is to come. We go through the most important aspects of the code, went though different styles of homes, special aspects to be are of, such as seismic category and temperatures of the area. Bill even showed a pretty fun video on fast speed of how a home is built. Perfect to wet the appetite.
Great stuff here. 100% recommended.

I enjoyed the lesson although some of the content is not applicable to the building and construction invironment of South-Africa.

I like learning from someone like this. You can tell he's been in the business for a long time and has seen the changes. I am younger, 35, but I have been in construction since I was 18 years old. Many of the things he pointed out are exactly the issues I have seen when it comes to code violations and cheap shortcuts. I am taking this course as a refresher as I am now a project manager for a reconstruction company and I was happy to have taken this. I look forward to the rest.

This course was fine, it wasn't quite as detailed as I would have liked it to be. Mr. Sharp also can be a little boring reading the powerpoint to the audience. Overall, it was good enough that I am going to buy the next part of the course.

Good introductory material and overview of construction process.
