some of the stuff he explains is really basic to people who are already in adjacent careers to game development/ who did their own research into game development. but, some of the stuff really helped me. the checklists are a def bonus. and for people who dont have any idea on game development or design this is a good course to begin your journey with, cant wait for the other courses!!

Instructor Bio

I am Pascal Luban, a Creative Director and Game Designer with 29+ years of experience in AAA, console, PC, and mobile game development.

Since 1995, I have contributed to internationally released games and worked with major publishers and studios including Activision, SCEE, Ubisoft, and DICE. My credits include Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, and Fighters Uncaged.

Across nearly three decades of production, I have worked as a game designer, lead level designer, lead game designer, creative director, consultant, and instructor. This experience has taught me what makes a game idea survive real production constraints: clear systems, focused design decisions, strong documentation, and constant iteration.

My first mobile title, The One Hope, received the Best in Gaming Award at the Digital Media Awards in Dublin in 2009. Since then, I have continued to adapt professional game design methods to new platforms, audiences, and production realities.

Today, over 700 Udemy students have trusted my courses, and more than 130 of them have given them an average rating of 4.9/5.

My courses are designed for indie developers and aspiring game designers who want to move beyond scattered ideas and learn how professional game designers think, structure, document, test, and improve their work.

My goal is NOT to teach game design theory, but to help you build stronger, clearer, and more production-ready games.
