Great course. I have learned a lot. I already had experience with watercolor but not much with portraiture. This course has helped me complete a good portrait for my youngest sister. Several usable techniques although you need to have very good paper to lift as easily or soften as easily as she does in the course. But all in all this was one of the best watercolor courses that I followed.

This is really good to understand the ‘values’ and how they are created using layers of the same colours. However the amount of water one loads into the brush often creates problems to get the uniformity of the gradation of the colour shade without creating a cloud effects.

As a beginner with watercolors this course took me to the next level. All though her style is a bit too tight for me, I was still able learn a great deal. By watching her create form with mixing values, gradations, and layering, this course was a great value..

I love your class because you explain everything in details. In addition, you make the student not to afraid of using water color to paint a complicated portrait. Now I understand the value and shading concept. I will buy all your courses to practice the drawing hobby for my retirement. Respect Huy

I would have liked to see more of a skin mixing study for different types of skin. More discussion of techniques for effects and less skipping ahead. Show a time lapse, but show everything.

Just the realism I was looking for, I watched the video tutorials, as I usually do before starting the practical work, that is to have an overall idea of the whole process. Now I'm ready to begin the painting while watching the videos again. very good tutorial. I'm please I have enrolled in this course.

Very well-taught - Marilee's instruction takes some of the mystery away. Her blending technique seems very straightforward, but it will definitely take alot of practice. I certainly appreciate the information given. Marilee explains the nuances that other instructors mostly gloss over as we simply watch them paint. Thanks, Marilee.

In the early lessons, the camera was set on auto-focus so it wouldn't stay focused on the work she was doing - focused on her hands above the work so the work itself was often blurry. She should have a set camera focus. Focus better further into the lessons. Content is good. She does a lot of dry on dry, then softens the edge. Not a style I'm used to working with. Most everything is real time. I learned some things to take into painting portraits.

Marilee is the best watercolor teacher! Easy to follow lessons that are well organized and broken down into manageable and relevant sections. You can tell she loves sharing her expertise with you. (And, her paintings are beautiful!) You will love this class and learn so much from one of the best teachers! Well worth the money and your time!
