Our take

Based on the ratings of 32,817 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

Melissa Crowhurst's Reiki course packs Level I, Level II and Master into 3.9 hours, across 102 lectures and 17 sections. It is built for people with no background. The early chapters cover the basics, how to feel Reiki and how to prepare. Later ones move into the symbols, chakras, attunements and a short section on starting a Reiki business. Distance attunements for all three levels are part of the package, and a 133-page PDF handbook comes with it. Teaching Reiki to others is left to a separate course.

Reviewers are warm about the teaching. They describe Melissa as calming, gentle and easy to follow, and several say they finished feeling confident. One says the practice after each session helped them understand the healing process. A few who had taken an in-person Reiki class say they got more from this one. Criticism is thin. Only 236 of about 32,800 ratings are one or two stars, and the one three-star in the sample simply hadn't gotten far into the details yet. The main caveats come from the format itself: it is a short video course, and the attunement happens at a distance.

The course was last updated in September 2026 and has been around since 2016, with over 111,000 students. For a first look at Reiki it is an easy pick, mainly because it is self-paced and short enough to finish quickly. One reviewer says they finished faster than expected. People who want hands-on feedback from a teacher, or who plan to certify others, should look elsewhere. Reiki is a spiritual practice, and the course asks for an open mind, so go in expecting that.

Best forComplete beginners who want all three Reiki levels and certificates online, at their own pace, without an in-person workshop.
Skip it ifYou want to teach and certify other Reiki students, since that sits in a separate course.

Pros

  • Reviewers call Melissa calming, gentle and easy to follow; no prior Reiki experience is needed
  • Covers Level I, II and Master, with distance attunements for all three in one course
  • Includes a 133-page PDF handbook plus symbol and chakra posters, with dog and cat charts
  • Rated 4.8 across about 32,800 reviews, with over three quarters giving five stars

Cons

  • Only 3.9 hours for three levels, and some chapters are tiny, like the 1-minute crystals section
  • Teaching and certifying others is not included and needs a separate advanced course
  • Attunements are done at a distance, and one student admits doubting that at first
I absolutely loved this course and genuinely felt connected to Melissa and the way she teaches.

I really enjoy her delivering but I haven’t made it too far in to the details yet.

By Malika Sundus on 8/21/2026

I absolutely loved taking this Reiki course with Melissa. The course was clear, engaging, and easy to follow, and Melissa explained the concepts and techniques in a way that made the material feel accessible and practical. I especially appreciated the step-by-step guidance through the Reiki practices and the explanation of the different symbols and healing methods. The course gave me a much deeper understanding of Reiki and helped me feel more confident putting what I learned into practice. I really enjoyed the combination of knowledge, demonstrations, and practical guidance throughout the course. Thank you, Melissa, for creating such a thoughtful and insightful course. I’m very grateful for everything I learned and would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in learning Reiki! ✨

I am a god-gifted energy healer. I took Melissa's Reiki course for guidance to upgrade and boost my healing skills. To be honest, as a healer, I would say Melissa has explained each detail about performing an energy healing session, and what she told about distant energy healing is very true. I recommend everyone to learn from her.

I am completely new to Reiki and I'm so thrilled that I chose to follow this course. I am learning so much. The course is easy to follow, it's enjoyable and a relaxing way to learn. I am looking forward to completing this course. I'll definitely be taking more advanced courses from Melissa in the future.

By Shainika on 7/19/2026

Very beautifully executed lessons, Melissa is so loving that one can feel it through the course. I was led to find this course at my lowest due to my messed up health and relationship situations. I’m eager to get attuned and work on myself to see how the universal energies work for my highest good.

By Helen Murray on 6/15/2026

This course provided me with all the information I needed to enhance my flowing of Universal Life Force Loving energy thru Reiki. The flow of the material works so well. The videos, mixed with the printed materials, are easy to follow and well presented. The course handbook is excellent and the workbook is extremely helpful. I was very appreciative that this course allows one to complete it at one's own pace! Melissa's caring, sincere, and professional presentation of the material is the Dai Ko Myo... Thank you Melissa!!!

By Nicole Becker on 4/13/2026

I felt an intuitive pull towards this course while I was already in the midst of my healing journey! I'm glad I followed my intuition because this Reiki course was very informative and hands-on. It is the perfect well-rounded course to dive into this world. Thank you for taking the time to create this class!

This course has been an incredible source of learning, and came at an amazing time within my own healing journey. I deeply appreciate the diverse range of resources; having the opportunity to learn in many different ways (videos, text, practical, etc.) has made me feel confident in the development of my skills.

By James Walburg on 3/16/2026

Melissa is an incredible teacher! I've now taken several of her courses and she is an amazing instructor with unbelievable communication skills. She breaks everything down in very clear steps; I feel as if I'm in the room with her during the lessons. She has changed my life in so many ways: I can't wait to continue my journey with Melissa by taking more of her courses!
