Course Description

Learn all the basic skills needed to develop Ruby on Rails 6 apps in just a few hours.

NO FILLER CONTENT, this course will get straight into the action and teach you how to build FAST!

This isn't a 20+ hour course, and quite frankly you don't need to waste tons of time learning the basics.

I have been building web apps with Ruby on Rails for close to 10 years and now it's time to share that experience so accelerate your learning.

Ruby on Rails is one of the most powerful frameworks for building web applications and is trusted by huge companies such as Airbnb, Shopify and Github.

One of the most attractive benefits you will discover with Rails is the ability to create working products FAST! This is why it has been hugely popular with many startups and a highly sought after skillset in tech hubs like Silicon Valley.

The underlying language for Rails is Ruby. Ruby was created for developer satisfaction, with the language being very easy to learn and lightweight in comparison to many other verbose languages and frameworks.

Throughout this course we will discuss each step that we are taking and build a blog application as we progress through the course.

Ruby on Rails has changed a lot since the earlier versions and Rails 6 is no exception. Throughout this course we will focus on learning all the basics to get you comfortable building any Rails app you can imagine in the latest framework.

I've got a general idea of the framework so I'm rather satisfied. It's good for beginners in Ruby on Rails, but not for beginners in programming in general. Some stuff is outdated so you have to figure out setting up the environment yourself (that wasn't hard for me, but for some real beginners it might be a problem). Some stuff doesn't seem to work at the end.

The course was simple and straight forward which was very easy to follow along. Very great for beginners as the lecturer gives fine amount of details so you won't get stressed out picking up new concepts but enough to enable you to look up things for yourself.

The course is OK. Not as great as some Udemy courses on JavaScript or Python topics but at least this course is up-to-date (April 2021). I liked the section about database migrations and I did learn new things about Rails. I wouldn't recommend this course to a complete Ruby or Rails beginner though.

I would not recommend taking this course if you are on Windows. Furthermore, if you are a beginner then I don't think this is the right course for you. The instructor jumps into topics and expects you to already know everything there is to know. I took the course and still know nothing about Ruby on Rails.

As the title says, this is a course for those who are new to rails, a person who is a complete beginner. As such it does a very good job hitting most of the basics and at times even going beyond the basics, such as introducing Bootstrap and Devise. I think those new to rails can definitely benefit from this course. However, I cannot give it a full five stars due to it's lack of coverage of testing. Also, given that this is a course on Rails 6, I think it would benefit from better coverage of Webpacker.

So far despite my issues setting up the programs on a Windows device (I understand it can be hard but it really should be addressed, or at least instruct us to use a VM with Ubuntu which I should really have done) the course is amazing. The professor simply teaches and shows without any unnecessary material.

Good solid course for someone who has no experience in Ruby. I highly recommend using a linux environment for ease of use.

Due to covid-19, my IRL webdev bootcamp had to swap to online format. I decided to take up this course to supplement that learning and I have learnt more in the first few hour than i have in the last fortnight in my bootcamp. Excellent communicator, and does not elaborate unnecessarily.

The course was very clear and I feel that I got what I came here for. I've seen many free youtube tutorials but this was much more precise and very well explained - thanks!

By Kirk Anthony Long on 4/10/2020

I have not yet finished the course but so far it is great. It is one of the only Ruby on Rails up to date courses i have found. Most of the other courses on Ruby on Rails are outdated with older versions. The instructor explains things clearly and moves at a good pace. Plenty of time to go back and evaluate the sections and content.
