With realistic expectations, I got exactly what I suspected I would get from this course. Overall there is some good advice on understanding the world of agents and managers along with producers/directors/actors in regards to how to work with them and what they look for in a writer. The section on pitching was quite useful too. It's nice listening to someone who has taught the craft professionally and also to someone who actually sold a screenplay (never mind one that made the big screen).

Such good quality advice, to help avoid screenwriters falling at the first hurdle. Thanks. This course has been truly amazing and inspiring! Paul, you have been instrumental in my completing the first draft of my screenplay, which has been in my head for twenty years! I now have the tools now to sculpture and polish my script, ready to send out at the start of next year. Many, many thanks!! Sally Womersley

It's all very surface level information and not terribly useful. It's also overly tailored to features to the detriment of television. I'm not happy I paid $10 dollars for it and it definitively isn't worth the full price.

Having earned my MBA at Stanford with the intention of starting my own production company, it was certainly valuable on one level. This course, however, prepared me far more. Castro not only covers the seen and unseen elements of business, he uncovered areas I would have never imagined unless decades of experience were acquired. This course was worth 10X its cost.

Intellectually this course is not Harvard caliber, but the content is so strong that all is forgiven. It is actually quite seductive in the way that you think it is rather simple, but by the end of the course you've received a substantial amount of sophisticated and applicable material.

This is by far the best course on the entertainment industry, period. If you want to produce, direct, write, act, or be a studio executive, this covers it all and then some. Professor Castro is humble, knowledgeable, and delivers the information in a clear, concise, easily absorbable style that is truly exceptional. Thank you, Castro and udemy.

After getting my MBA, working on Wall Street, and now in the studio system for 7 years in LA, I thought I knew everything about this business. I was wrong. Castro has a ton of new and valuable information, and reminded me of all that I learned and should be doing! LOL! Enjoy this course. It is really great!!!

Wished more specificity was shared. For instance, when the different ways to earn income were described, or different writing options besides screenplays, it would have been nice to know how much those roles/pieces can earn. At least knowing the ranges of earnings that can be expected when starting out or more seasoned in the industry would have been useful. Also, samples of the examples given would have been super useful. The last module was my favorite. Otherwise, a pretty general course that was a little to wide in its coverage rather than the depth I was desiring.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the great overview of the next section of the road to the one I am on as Novelist. Question I have is what makes a screenwriter’s life easier when adapting a novel…or worse…No doubt screenwriters have such opinions of the section of road before theirs. At any rate, Thanks for a great course… Cheers, Stu Harvey

The thing that makes this course so valuable is that it teaches you how to actually make a living and thrive as a professional screenwriter. I have always been a creative artist and writer, but now I know how to actually have a career. I took THE MILLION DOLLAR SCREENPLAY SCREENWRITER course from Castro on udemy and it was awesome. This guy yet again delivers. He should have his own TV show as he is super informative, entertaining, and always compelling to keep me watching. I hate giving 5 stars as it seems cliche, but he earned it. Thanks again!
