Shopify or Woocommerce? (Udemy.com)

This was a Very good course thank you Tim, much appreciated. It was very easy to understand which is great for me as I don’t do complicated. I have been looking into shopify for a few years and I just don’t seem to get anywhere due to lack of confidence & knowledge, I learned a lot today and I will be taking some of your other courses as well!

Great comparison between Shopify and WP Woocommerce shop setups. All clear, quick and logical. I recommend this short and free course for every beginner, who wants to understand major differences, similarities, and costs involved in these two platforms setups and running. At the end - we have the showdown and the winner!

You chicken out on the obvious for those platforms i.e. the cost for apps! From what I have heard, it cost way more than what you suggest. And, you forgot that there is so much more than drop shipping for eCommerce, woo commerce appears to offer so much more options and flexibility, you did not mentioned any thing on this. But it was an interesting video.

An Excellent precursor for any & all who are a bit boggled between the two big software giants of e-commerce, Tim makes it a very easy sit thru the two technology stacks, the pro,s cons, the good the bad, & the awesome, I would lean more towards WooCommerce for the development purposes, & Tim helped me in coming to that decision in a short course, So well worth the time, & worth way more than the price tag

I gained a lot from this course. The lecturer takes the student through all the strps needed to set up a shop on both Shopify and Woocommerce, and in the process he highlights the fundamental differences and commonalities between the two. He encourages the student to jump in snd “have a go” and I am now motivated to try my hand at creating an online shop.

This is a very good comparative course. I've learnt what I needed in order to decide whether I should go with Shopify or WP/WooCommerce under various circumstances and financial situations. At this initial stage of my starting an online store, I don't have a big budget, yet I have a lot of technical skills and experience (I was an Open Source software developer, had built a web store with osCommerce many years ago for clients, am familiar with WP, have had my own domains and web host and have been administering them for many years.) Therefore, it behooves me to start with WooCommerce first. A major concern of mine would be the ease of migrating my WooCommerce site/data over to Shopify later on when I could make a good profit, and if I wish to do less technical work. Fortunately, Tim has addressed this concern when he responded to some others' questions. :)

I would thoroughly recommend this free course! I really appreciate the time that Tim took to create it. It is an excellent, clear and methodical comparison of the two e-commerce platforms. It offers sufficient detail to make an informed decision about selecting the best platform for your needs BUT it does not go into depth about how you would set them up. However, Tim has created other more detailed courses that provide this information.

I've played around with both platforms in the past and I find that Shopify is much easier to use than Woocommerce. I like Woocommerce but I wouldn't recommend it for a total beginner due to its learning curve. I would definitely go with Shopify because at the end of the day TIME is MONEY. Great Job Tim! ~Hilda

The information was informative and relatively comprehensive, but I think he didn't give enough information about the benefits of WordPress and why one may choose WooCommerce over eCommerce for those reasons. I realize that this is not a class about WordPress, but I think it's worth mentioning what you can get through WordPress that you can't through Shopify. For example, WordPress was set up to be a blogging site. A blog can be a fantastic way to attain customers and keep them coming back to you, vs. just any eCommerce store. When giving his final comparison review, he should have been less biased towards Shopify and given more explanation why some people may choose the latter. He said, in his opinion, there is no good reason to choose WooCommerce when Shopify is so much easier. I definitely disagree with that and think that the WordPress benefits should have been included in his comparison.

This is my first course from Tim and I can honestly say it was hands down the best comparison between these two giants that I'v come across. It certainly helped me in taking my final decision on which platform I want to start out on. Eventually, I'll be using both platforms anyway. Thank you Tim, and looking forward to taking all your courses and learning from you. Time certainly well spent.
