Sitecore 10 Content Editing Basics Step-by-Step (Udemy.com)

Detailed Sitecore content editor online training video course for beginner editors, marketeers, and developers.

Created by: Vasiliy Fomichev

Last updated November 2025

Our take

Based on the ratings of 1,112 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in November 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.

Vasiliy Fomichev, a Sitecore MVP, built this as a walkthrough of content authoring in Sitecore 10. It runs 4.8 hours over 51 lectures, with 10 quizzes and a set of practice assignments. The syllabus covers Experience Editor versus Content Editor, composing a page from components, personalization, workflows and publishing, plus a troubleshooting section. It is aimed squarely at authors and marketers. Developers get the editing basics, but the course description says plainly that this is not a development course.

Reviewers like the step-by-step pace and call it a clear first look at the platform. One says it is enough for beginners, and another says it is the only Sitecore training they could find. The complaints are consistent. Several find the voice-over monotonous, one flags bad audio in the Content Editor lesson, and a few say the captions mangle the word Sitecore. Others want more hands-on practice, and a couple struggle without Sitecore access, since a sandbox is only listed as optional. One low review says templates barely come up.

Of about 1,100 ratings, 488 are five stars and 441 are four, so most people leave satisfied. It was last updated in November 2025, which is recent for a niche CMS course. Around 5,500 students have taken it. It suits a new author who has a Sitecore instance open and can click along. If the goal is building components or sites, this is the wrong starting point.

Best forSitecore content authors and marketers who need the editing tools explained before building their first real page.
Skip it ifYou want to build Sitecore sites, write templates or code, or need deep coverage of search and bucketing.

Pros

  • Step-by-step walkthrough of Experience Editor and Content Editor that reviewers find easy to follow
  • Covers the full authoring loop: compose a page, personalize it, run workflow, publish
  • Includes 10 quizzes and practice assignments, plus a troubleshooting section for common problems
  • Updated in November 2025 and taught by a Sitecore MVP who keeps adding material

Cons

  • Flat, monotonous narration and a poor audio lesson in the Content Editor section, per reviewers
  • Captions are auto-generated and often wrong, turning Sitecore into other words
  • Mostly watching a screen, and thin on templates, search and bucketing, so it stays at basics
Very good intro to the Sitecore world. The course was nicely broken down and clearly presented.
Gregg Wells, a student

Beginner is accurate for editors. Only an optional sandbox is required, but developers will find almost no code.

Excellent training! The content was well-structured, practical, and easy to follow. The hands-on exercises and real-world examples made learning Sitecore engaging and effective. I highly recommend this training to anyone looking to strengthen their Sitecore skills.

I really enjoyed this course! The instructor’s step-by-step explanations made it very easy to follow and understand each concept. I also appreciate that it covers all the important topics with quizzes that are directly useful in real project scenarios. Overall, it’s a well-structured and highly practical course — truly helpful for anyone looking to deepen their Sitecore knowledge.

Good initial description of SiteCore - Would prefer more hands on sessions to go through some of the common workflows so audience can follow. A trial or working license sufficient to cover the course material would be bonus - to help visualise what the features the organisation may want to have in order to acquire.

This is enought for begginers. Maybe good to add some advanced topics and cover more functionality. But could be another training. This is also the only training that I found so no competetors :)

This course was exceptional. The pace was well, the details helped to bridge the gap of things I was tought by other internals, some that I self taught myself and has given me some breadcrumbs to things i will look at in our setup.

By Lawrence Rosado on 3/18/2024

Being a new Sitecore user I found the pace and level of detail of each section extremely helpful in understanding and using this CMS. I started by going to the sections I needed to know and I am now rewatching the entire course to get the completed picture. It is packed full of exercise and useful resources. The author continues to provide content updates and introduces you to the worldwide Sitecore community. Thank you for this excellent course!

It was quite a nice journey, although there are two major flaws I've noticed. 1 - Lack of captions, apart from those automatically generated, makes the whole experience a tough one for people that are not fluent with english. Turning the captions on makes it even worse (my favourite SICHER). As the whole course was prepared using a script, I can't see a reason why they were not implemented 2 - Videos could use slides with the most important bits 3 - More visible splits when switching from one topic to another within one video.

By Anonymized User on 9/26/2022

The course gave me a very good basic idea about the what is what and how the entire application works. It would have been good, if there could have been more content, while keeping developers in mind.

By Michaela Weinreb on 9/19/2020

good explantion but not enough demonstration of how the items are used.

By Morteza Yamini on 9/15/2020

Need a section to how to access and how to setup the Habit website on the PC.

By Venkata Krishna Sharma on 8/20/2020

Need more examples on each modules where it can be used so that we can understand and remember it easily . because LOT of terms are confusing or difficult to remember
