Course Description

The interior design world is always upgrading and improving all the aspects that contribute to a better design and therefore a better lifestyle. The options of materials and finishes are growing day by day, we never had more access to a variety of raw materials and technologically sophisticated surfaces and styles like we do in the present. The market is full of choices and possibilities that can get you overwhelmed and maybe a little bit off-track. The smart and ideal decision taken when deciding  on specific finish is all based on the context, meaning that every case or project in interior design requires a specific finish treatment. For that reason i intended to clarify and elaborate in this course 7 main materials and finishes in interior design.

The general content of this course include:

Definition of the material,

Types and subcategories of the material,

Finishes available for this material,

Tables of comparisons,

Pros and cons,

Specific usage of each material,

Overview on the installation process.

In addition, I will take you on site in 2 lectures and present an overview of the tiling and false ceiling installation process.

The course provides a solid introduction to materials commonly used in interior design. It’s a good starting point for beginners who need to understand the basics. However, I would have appreciated more in-depth coverage, particularly on how certain materials are commonly associated with specific interior design styles. That additional context would have been helpful, as I often found myself needing to do further research online. Also, like many others mentioned in the comments, I found that the narrator’s accent impacted the overall learning experience. I would have preferred a native English speaker for clearer communication.

The course is informative and good, but i want word definations for certain techinques as this entire course is new to me and it would be nice if you have like a small points of summary at end of each video and more tests

By Joseph on 10/25/2024

There's a lot of relevant information here but I kind of wish there was more granular detail regarding how certain materials should be installed. Expounding on the pros and cons of finish instance specifics like big tile vs small tile - stuff like that. Otherwise, the course gives fairly broad exposure, so worth the price, in my opinion.

Excellent explanations of each material and technique. I am learning valuable info I never heard of, but I'd love it if there were no music. The music almost battles with her voice and is quite annoying. This is a course and not a festival, after all.

A lot of informations, there are very well presented. Many of examples and all of them are shown on the images. Every section has a resources files with summary and images. I recommend this one for sure!

This course is rich in detail and exceeds what I expected, from a professional perspective. looking forward to more courses, especially in interior fit-out process and managing interior projects, thank you, Joelle,

Great level of details provided with visual examples and plenty of information with images also in the pdf downloads. I enjoyed this course and will use the information that I learned!

I can't believe how much I just learned from this course! Joelle has a clear & well-paced delivery that makes the information easy to follow. Being around these materials & finishes every day didn't mean I knew anything about them. Now I have a grasp on their uses, applications, & a much larger vocabulary.

My university does not really provide detailed informations. Since joining material and finishes course, I have understood more and feel more confident knowing the materials. Thank you so much. Cant wait for your new courses!

I had no problem with the info - it was good. What I did have problems with was: the language - if it's supposed to be in english can you make sure it's correct??? The moderator was absent for most of the course and when she returned at the end there was no sound - as a matter of fact there was no sound through most of the course. Lastly, the pause would not work - the content would keep rolling on when I clicked pause - and most of the lessons would stop before the end of a lecture and then restart at the beginning instead of continuing on to the end of the lecture or going to the next lecture.
