John Christopher is a Technical Instructor that has been in the business for 25 years. His first experience with information technology occurred in the early 90s when he ran an MS-DOS based BBS(Bulletin Board System) as a System Operator. In the late 90s, after working with Windows NT 3.50 performing backups for Regal Group, he decided to get Windows NT Microsoft Certified.
In 1998 he got his first Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Trainer certification. Shortly after getting certified, he began working as a Junior Administrator and Instructor for Knowledge Alliance. From there John was able to become one of the first people in the world to gain an MCSE for the Windows 2000 operating system and he began teaching full time for a company called Productivity Point International. At Productivity Point, John got Citrix Metaframe certified and began teaching Citrix along with Microsoft classes. Productivity Point began experiencing financial troubles and John moved on to work with another training company in 2001

He's got tons of energy and great at teaching content that would otherwise be dull. It really doesn't watch like a slideshow lecture, but rather something that finally makes you feel like you can follow along. Also, it's ADHD approved.

I’m just at the beginning of the course, but I’m already impressed. What I find unique is that it starts with an introduction for people with no prior knowledge. The instructor explains technical terms in a clear, simple way that anyone can understand. I’m already hooked and hope it continues like this until the end of the course.

I started working on this course yesterday and I'm quite happy with it. John breaks down the explanations/terminologies into small pieces which make it easy to digest with less needs to google the words separately.

This course provides a strong, practical understanding of Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure with a clear emphasis on Azure-integrated scenarios. It goes beyond traditional Windows Server administration by focusing on hybrid identity using Azure AD, synchronization concepts, and extending on-premises Active Directory (AD DS) into Azure environments. The modules covering Azure integration, hybrid networking considerations, and identity & access management are especially relevant for modern cloud-first architectures. The PowerShell sections further reinforce automation in both on-prem and Azure-connected environments, which is critical for scalable administration. Real-world hybrid use cases make it easier to understand how enterprise infrastructures are evolving toward cloud integration. Overall, this course is highly valuable for administrators transitioning from on-premises roles to Azure-based or hybrid cloud engineering positions.

This is an amazing course. I learned lots of things related to on-premises and cloud computing, networking and many other things. Those labs were also very helpful to understand those concept.

A lot of good information, but too much lecturing. This is great for someone who can sit and watch videos for hours. My attention span sways after 5 mins or so. Very knowledgeable instructor and I recommend for those who can sit for extended lectures.

Muito bom, sempre encontro algum insight, ou alguma técnica para fazer melhor alguma atividade de administração do ambiente Windows Server e ótimo material de preparação para o exame MS.

This course was very thorough and well explained. I built an entire lab environment using this course and was able to break, fix, and build systems throughout this course that was so easy to follow. I will continue learning from John for my other MS cert from here on because the teaching style was great.

It's good. Not great, but good. I'm an IT hobbyist who has a fair amount of knowledge about computer building and maintenance, but I have zero knowledge about servers and azure. What I like about this course: 1- Straightforward: dives directly into topics without too much hassle. 2- Very well structured: it helped me orient and familiarize myself with windows server and azure, guiding me to focus on what matters for sysadmins. The amount of options I encountered in azure is crushing, but I was able to guide myself around just by watching the videos. 3- Easy to review and find any specific piece of information at any time. What I don't like: I'm a person who loves diving deep into IT subjects. Due to certain limitations, John wasn't able to show specific/complete stuff in action "like sites and services, azure virtual network gateway". To circumvent these, I resorted to external resources and AI to gather data and create a virtual router "pfsense" to connect it to my lab and configure a vpn so that I can experience the setup of a real production environment. Summary of my actions: I learned that I don't need an expensive enterprise router/vpn concentrator for a realistic production environment setup, so I created a new vm and installed pfsense, assigned 3 vNICs to it, and ran some config. Then I hooked up my vServers to it. With that, I had multiple servers on different subnets and was able to simulate a real WAN scenario. I was also able to create a vgateway in azure and configure the VPN in pfsense accordingly. It was exhausting and time consuming, but very useful. I learned so much from that. Now I know that we're studying system administration here, not network engineering, but there's plenty of value in learning the basics of networking and having the ability to actually look at what an enterprise router's interface looks like. I didn't bother configuring the firewall so I left it open to make things easier, but I dove into the vpn config and was able to establish an IPsec tunnel to azure. With that said, I was hoping to see more dedication from John here. I'm 100% sure that an experienced IT like him can do all that and more. Maybe he thinks it's not necessary, but I'd still say it's a nice-to-have experience. Having a human instructor explain and demonstrate stuff is miles better than anything an AI can muster. The 2nd thing I didn't like is the illustrations. He could've gone with ready-to-use assets to prebuild his slides, but he chose to draw as he spoke. This caused him to get distracted sometimes and dragged the slide shows for way longer than needed. It also caused the informational outcome to be fragmented and hard to follow. Would I recommend this course? Yes, definitely. If you can overlook the bad illustrations, then you'll get a very good learning experience. If you're a beginner and are starting from zero, then you will find yourself resorting to external resources to cover any informational gaps that are not explained in depth here. You can choose to follow the structure here, or go further beyond like I did. In both cases, you'll find a great value in these lessons. My final recommendation: be very careful if you decide to use AI. Even with a paid premium and pinpoint prompts, it makes plenty of mistakes and misleads you a whole lot more than you can imagine. Don't take anything from AI without proper testing.
