Course Description

** The only Cisco troubleshooting course that uses full practical labs on Udemy.**

Troubleshooting is an art. Troubleshooting is a challenge. What set expert level engineers apart from average engineers is Troubleshooting methodology and efficiency. Troubleshooting has to be systematic and logical, and not by random trial and error attempts.

In this course, I will demonstrate troubleshooting of Cisco devices in multiple labs.Topics in this course include routing, switching, BGP, IPv6, IP services, MPLS and Security. You can use this course to learn how to troubleshoot Cisco devices in real production and to help you to prepare for the CCNP TSHOOT exam and the Troubleshooting sections of the CCIE lab exams. If you are already have CCNA level knowledge and/or experience, or you are about to complete your CCNA studies, then you can use this course as a start for learning advanced troubleshooting.

This course uses multiple explaining ways in addition to videos. At the beginning of each section there is an article for summarized troubleshooting steps that is available for download as a PDF. And for each lab, initial configuration will be available for download in order for students to practice the labs and challenge themselves if they can solve the tickets before watching the videos or even after. After each section, there will be a practice test for the student to check what he has learned. Some tickets have multiple possible solutions. Therefore, restrictions have been set so that there should be only one valid solution.

Let us start the course together and begin the troubleshooting journey. Happy troubleshooting!

Very Important: How to use this course

Based on students' feedback, you can view this course by going directly to the section you are interested in. However, it is recommended that you at least skim quickly over the other preceding sections.

Examples:

  • You can go to the routing section directly if you are interested in that topic and feel that you are already good at troubleshooting switching, or skim quickly over the switching section as a review

  • You can go to the BGP, IPv6, or IP Serives sections directly if you are interested in one of those topics and feel that you are already good at troubleshooting routing, or skim quickly over the routing section as a review

It is not just a "solve the ticket" course, but also a "repair the network" experience. Solving a ticket restores only part of the connectivity; to build a fully functioning network, you must solve all the tickets in the topology. It was like putting together a puzzle—each ticket solved part of the problem, and only after completing them all did the whole network work properly. Challenging, instructive, and enjoyable.

This network troubleshooting course is both challenging and enjoyable, offering a variety of troubleshooting scenarios and possible solutions that test your skills. The content is clear, well-structured, and provides deep insights into routing, switching, BGP, and other topics. The instructor brings a unique set of strengths to the course—his engaging style, clear examples, and thorough explanations—making it an excellent resource for anyone looking to enhance their network troubleshooting skills.

This is by far the best network troubleshooting course I've taken. It stands out for its usage of labs with entire topologies that must be thoroughly fixed in order to build a fully functional network. Furthermore, constraints were imposed in order to employ a single solution for a ticket, as opposed to the other viable solutions that were previously stated in the documents. Finally, the explanation is really clear, and the supporting documents are excellent.

By Salvador Hernandez on 2/5/2022

The instructor explains the steps of troubleshooting in the summaries with very structured and systematic methods. He then applies these steps accurately to resolve the tickets included in the labs until achieving full connectivity. He follows the same approach even for the complicated tickets, which makes them look really easy in some manner. Furthermore, the inclusion of initial configurations and lab diagrams makes this course complete and ready for students to follow the lectures and practice with the tickets after making the topology. In summary, with this course, troubleshooting looks easy and enjoyable, with direct and clear explanations.

For a while, I did not get training with the quality of this one. It combined both the depth of the tickets that should be solved and an easy, direct to the point explanation of the techniques used to solve those tickets. The structure of the course is also great, as each lab/section started with really focused introductions to the topology and steps that should be used in general. I think that each one will just feel like me when following the lectures and the steps used to solve the tickets: the feeling of enjoyment and victory when full connectivity is achieved. I felt like a real network engineer who could efficiently troubleshoot networks.

Troubleshooting is half of networking. It goes side by side with configuration. I have learned a lot about troubleshooting from this course. Many show and debug commands were demonstrated in a full lab environment, giving the feeling of real production or a practical lab exam. Another beautiful thing is that each ticket can be solved independently, but full connectivity in the labs needs all the tickets to be solved. That makes working with this course easy and challenging at the same time.

I was always good at configuration, but not at troubleshooting. As a junior engineer, I try to solve networking problems using random methods, so by trial and error approach, but not a structured approach. This course opened my mind to the correct troubleshooting methods that should be used and gave me a push in the direction of having clear and systematic troubleshooting techniques. This course might be even good for senior engineers, as there is a lot of information and practices that should be very useful and enjoyable.

It was a good course with solid examples. It just had some grammar errors on some of the docs and test questions that took away from it a bit.

By Gary Hammon on 7/6/2019

Fabulous Course! It takes you step by step from the explaining the troubleshooting steps briefly and clearly, to downloading the initial configurations and practicing with the tickets, watching the solutions, and finally checking with a practice test. Nothing could be more structured and complete than that! Some tickets are suitable for the CCNA level and some for the CCNP and CCIE levels, but whatever level you are in, I think you will enjoy the course, and try to solve the tickets, one after one (Some are really challenging, so patience and determination is necessary).

This is really a very excellent course. Learned a lot. A must for anyone needing to troubleshoot network. Some of the troubleshooting scenarios in the course seem repetitive, but repetition reinforces understanding and increase retention, so no complaints here. The course can use some improvements though, such as providing more details (IP addressing, ASN, OSPF area#, etc.) on the lab diagrams to facilitate ease of learning and perhaps more problem scenarios in the areas of IPv6, multicast, and MPLS.
