AZ-303 Azure Architecture Technologies Exam Prep (LEGACY) (Udemy.com)

Prove your Azure Architect Technology skills to the world. Complete AZ-303 course.

Our take

Based on the ratings of 27,290 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is Scott Duffy's prep course for AZ-303, the Azure Architect Technologies exam, which Microsoft has retired. The description now marks the course as legacy and says it will not be updated, so it is no longer a route to that certificate. What remains is 152 lectures and about 12.5 hours across 22 sections, covering VMs, storage, networking, Azure AD, containers, and databases. Think of it as a tour of Azure services rather than a current exam plan. It is labeled intermediate, and the audience list leans toward technical people who already have some Azure exposure.

Reviewers like the teaching. They call Duffy clear and knowledgeable, and several single out the quizzes and labs. Some passed earlier versions of the exam with it, though one adds that you still have to read Microsoft's docs and build resources by hand. The complaints are consistent. Low-star reviews say the material stays high level, lacks scenarios and design reasoning, and moves slowly enough that one viewer used 1.25x. A few found the section order disjointed, and a 2020 reviewer says some videos still showed the old portal. Even so, about 85 percent of ratings are four or five stars.

Value depends on the goal. With about 139,000 students it is clearly popular, but with the exam gone, the sensible use is background learning on Azure. One reviewer who bought it years ago finally finished it after picking up an AZ-104 course, and said it gave insights on Azure. The listing shows an update in September 2026, yet the legacy note says no new content is coming. Anyone chasing a current certification should pick a course built for a live exam. For broad Azure grounding from older material, it holds up fine.

Best forTechnical people who want a structured tour of core Azure services and don't need a live exam to aim at.
Skip it ifYou need to sit a current Azure exam, since AZ-303 is retired and the course is not being updated.

Pros

  • Reviewers call Scott Duffy clear and knowledgeable, with each exam objective explained in detail
  • Quizzes and hands-on labs get specific praise from students
  • 152 lectures in 22 sections cover VMs, storage, networking, Azure AD, containers and databases
  • Two reviewers say they passed earlier Azure exams (70-535, AZ-300) with it

Cons

  • AZ-303 is retired and the course is legacy, so it will not be updated
  • Low-star reviews call it high level, light on scenarios and design reasoning
  • Some found the pace slow and the section order disjointed or confusing
Just passed the Az-300 exam on the first sitting!! This course covers all areas, BUT you must then go through all the topics, esp try to read through the main MSDN docs and do first hand creation of Azure resources.

Labeled intermediate; suits technical people with some Azure exposure who can create resources in their own Azure subscription.

Microsoft Azure is a skill in high demand in today's large business marketplace.

  • According to Microsoft, Azure is being used by 85% of the Fortune 500 companies, particularly with their hot Office 365 suite

  • Use of Azure has grown 60% year-over-year

  • Salary survey sites report that Azure Architects earn US$130,000 to US$170,000 per year across the United States

  • Microsoft has more than 100 data centers, across 60+ regions and 10 geos, making it one of the largest data centers in the world.

This course is the complete study preparation course for the AZ-303 exams: Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies.

I'm quite confident that this is the most complete training course targeted specifically at the exam.

While the technology world is full of "buzzwords" and "flavors of the month", the cloud is a real paradigm shift in the way solutions are designed and architected. There are now so many reasons why you should include Azure cloud technology in the design of your solution that there are almost no reasons why not to do it.

Cost savings is the one that catches the attention of businesses. Some companies are spending millions of dollars per month of their IT infrastructure, and every few years that hardware needs to be repaired and upgraded. Being able to reduce capital investment and essentially rent powerful equipment on demand is quite a lot of upfront savings.

If you add in the scalability, flexibility, and worldwide reach of the cloud and the technology group sees the potential as well. You can truly do more with less.

This course goes through all of the requirements of the Microsoft exam AZ-303: Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies. Multiple videos are devoted to each sub-objective, and we cover the topic thoroughly.

Most of the courses and content you find online assume you already have expert knowledge of Azure and just tells you what to study, spending only seconds covering entire objectives. I can confidently say this course goes deep on everything you need to know.

If you ARE already an expert at many Azure topics, you can easily skip the sections that you already know and focus on the ones you have not yet had much exposure too. This is the benefit of having the complete course.

Each section has additional web-based resources for you to do further research and expand your knowledge beyond the requirements of the exam.

Scott Duffy

Hi there, my name is Scott Duffy. And I love making complex technical topics easy to understand.

This has been the basis of my entire career – as a developer, as a development manager, as a software architect – over the past 20 years. I spend half my time in the world of business, explaining complex technical topics to business owners and stakeholders so that they can understand and agree with my approach to solving their business problems with technical solutions. And the other half with developers, explaining the business reasons behind decisions and ensuring that any decisions made on the technical side don't restrict the business in unexpected ways.

And I'm here on Udemy to teach what I know in an approachable way. I started teaching courses in 2014, and have taught over 1,600,000 students. I am grateful every day for being able to connect with so many students in almost every country around the world.

I'm a certified Enterprise Architect and certified cloud architect. I have been developing with Microsoft technologies for 20 years, starting with Classic ASP, and all the versions of .NET. We now live in the cloud era, with Microsoft Azure being prevalent in most large enterprises. I'm certified as an Azure Architect and Developer too. As well as AWS Solution Architect Associate (SAA).

Microsoft MVP Award winner for 2022-2025.

Brought this course several years ago and never had a chance to go thru it. Having more spare time, I have finally completed the course (even if AZ-303 has been retired by MS!!!!) I have found this course informative and helpful and it has certainly has given me insights on Azure. I have brought a AZ-104 course recently so I have some idea what Azure features and technologies are about now :)

By Sandeep Pathak on 3/6/2020

Just passed the Az-300 exam on the first sitting!! This course covers all areas, BUT you must then go through all the topics, esp try to read through the main MSDN docs and do first hand creation of Azure resources. This is a great overall coverage of the test

By Kiran Goli on 2/5/2020

Helped me to go learn exactly all those topics that are required for the exam. Course being updated with practice sessions and hands on labs is really good. Best part is, course is updated in time if topics of exam are changed by Microsoft.

Hello Scott, Today I earned 70-535 certification [not with big score :( ] but still feeling proud.. :) Thanks a lot for your hard work which helped me to understand the core concepts of this subject and it boosted my confidence also. This is my second course of your 70 series (70-532) . With this, I got MCSA certificate today so a big part of credit goes to your courses also.. waiting for your next courses.. (definitely .. AZ series :D ) Thanks again.. Jayesh Shah

Thanks Scott for this awesome course. This course helped me a lot to understand most of the topics for the exam. I passed the exam with a score of 727. I really appreciate your effort and commitment to keep the course up to date. I would like to take the bridge exam AZ-302 next year and need some guidance for the same from you. Thanks again.

By Subri Shastry on 6/24/2018

This is a fantastic course and needed before a deep dive. I would strongly urge Scott with his tremendous depth to get deeper into the following Powershell cmdlets Azure AD Media Services Failure and Replication.

By David Yang on 5/30/2018

I took this course to prepare for the 70-535 exam. It took me about 6 weeks to study while working full-time. (1-2 hours a day during weekday and 2-3 hours a day over the weekend) Total around little under 100 hours of study. I passed the exam today and felt that the exam was quite difficult. If i were to study for this exam again, i would do below: 1. take this course to get a good overview of services 2. while taking this course, sign up for free $200 Azure subscription and practice on Azure portal. A LOT. I would create as many services possible and play around. 3. take the practice test provided by this course after you finish all the lectures. (There is an extra practice exam on 'acloudguru' page if you sign up. (Free) 4. Purchase MS official practice test ($89 with a discount code) that has over 200 practice questions and do most of them. Things that were not sufficient from this course: 1. practice exam was ok but there were some wrong answers and no case-based questions. The actual exam i took had 2 cases that covered a out 20 questions out of 51. and the rest of the questions were formatted very similar to the practice exam questions from this course. (MS official practice exam has lots of case based questions) 2. Knowing everything that was taught from this course doesn't cover everything on the exam. don't expect the exam to have only the content covered on this course. Overall review: For the price, this course is very reasonable and solid to get a good overview of the exam, but don't rely on this course only to prepare for the exam. I would definitely take Scott's course for other certification exam preps in future. Thanks Scott!

By Prasad Babu Cheduri on 5/12/2018

Greatly designed & Organized content of the course …. Request you to include real time scenarios & discuss differences between similar concepts like Traffic Manager and Content Deliver Network (CDN).. Overall happy and worth more than the price :)

By Robert Melanson on 4/26/2018

Scott's course is one of the best available as preparation for the MS 70-535 exam. I went through his course multiple times, and found the quiz questions and test exam very valuable as study guides. Along with additional courses and books, Scott's course helped me to pass the MCSA: Cloud Computing in October of 2018.

By Sanjay Khatri on 4/13/2018

This course is very well design, and instructor has very good capabilities to explain the architectural structure of the various Azure Components. Course explains very well each and every Azure Services, and how they work and integrated with each other. I suggest any one to take this course for the detailed knowledge on Azure Architecture or from 70-534 / 70-535 exam perspective.
