AZ-900 prep: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (Udemy.com)
Introduction to Cloud Infrastructure, including 20 services. For AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals exam preparation

Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,795 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Phillip Burton's AZ-900 course is a 5.3 hour walk through the Azure Fundamentals exam outline, split into 82 short lectures over 17 sections. It follows the official skill areas: cloud concepts, core services for compute, networking and storage, then management tools, security, identity, governance and cost. Nothing is assumed beyond basic computer skills, and it shows how to open a free Azure trial. It is built for people heading toward the exam, not for people who want to learn to run Azure day to day.
Reviewers like the format. The screen shows slides and the Azure portal side by side, and one student said the visuals made harder topics like Microsoft Purview and ExpressRoute click. Explanations are short and clear, and one person was comfortable at 1.25x speed. The complaints are consistent. Some call it light on hands-on practice, a few found material repeated or similar products not clearly separated, and a French-language reviewer said many questions on the Measure Up practice test were not well covered. One mentions the British accent. The harshest review, at one star, calls it a flood of terms with no labs.
The numbers are solid: 4.7 from 1,795 ratings, nearly 90 percent of them four or five stars, and 9,067 students. The last update was June 2026, though one August reviewer worried that recent exam changes might be missing. Treat it as the first pass. Add the included practice test, then click around the portal yourself in a free trial, because reviewers say that hands-on time is what the course leaves out.
Pros
- Slides and the Azure portal share the screen, so concepts are shown as well as explained
- Short lectures that stay easy to follow, even at 1.25x speed
- Follows the exam outline, from cloud models and cost to identity and governance
- Eleven quizzes plus a practice test help the terms stick
Cons
- Light on hands-on work, so students need to practice in their own Azure trial
- Some repetition, and similar products are not always clearly told apart
- A British accent bothers one reviewer, and another says some practice questions go uncovered
All the concepts the instructor provided were visual, which helped me understand some of the harder areas / or tools that I didn't know about like Microsoft Purview and ExpressRoute
Beginner level fits. Only basic computer skills are needed, with no cloud or database background.
What you will learn
- Understand cloud concepts
- Understand core Azure services
- Understand core solutions and management tools on Azure
- Understand general security and network security features

Branko says: "This mash up presentation approach giving the both windows - presentation theoretical slide and practical Azure platform view of actions together with presenter's explanations are a well done way in efficient and pleasant learning! Congrats"

This course is the foundation for the Microsoft Certificate AZ-900 "Azure Fundamentals", and focuses on Azure services in general, together with cloud concepts, Azure workloads, security and privacy, as well as Azure pricing.
We'll start off with looking at Virtual Machines. We'll create an Azure account, quickly create a Virtual Machine, log into it, and then shut it down. We'll then start creating the Virtual Machine more slowly, and look at the concepts behind Azure, such as Architectural components and what can affect costs.
After that, we'll take a step back and look at cloud computing generally. We'll identify the benefits and considerations of using cloud service, such as High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and the difference between Capital Expenditure and Operational Expenditure. We'll then see what the three main cloud models are, how they vary, and when Microsoft takes responsibility for various aspects of cloud computing.
In the middle part of this course, we'll have a look at around 20 different Azure services, and look at the benefits of usage of them. We'll be looking at services for Compute, Networking and Storage, including how to move or migrate files.
In the last part of the course, we'll look at other considerations for using Azure. We'll examine Azure management tools, security features and network security, identity services, governance features, and privacy and compliance resources.
No prior knowledge is required - we'll even see how to get a free Azure trial!
There are regular quizzes to help you remember the information, so you can be sure that you are learning.
Once you have completed this course, you will have a good introductory knowledge of cloud services and how those services are provided with Microsoft Azure. And with some practice, you could even go for the official Microsoft certification AZ-900 - wouldn't that look good on your CV or resume? And if you are an American college student, you might even get college credit for passing that exam.

Very clear structured. Some information that is repeated too often. I hope all of the Information in the Training are a good Base for the Accreditation. Mean the Question in the Accreditation match with the Course Information.

This is a good class for me. It gives me a clear understanding of what my current job operation staffs are doing at the backend whenever I am requesting a firewall change Request and also building a virtual desktop.

I would have love to get a little bit more extensive on some of the items in the course. But that might not exactly be what is needed to be covered for the exam. Nevertheless, great content, easy to follow and understand even at 1.25x speed.

Excellent Tutorial. This is the only tutorial which covers the Latest exam contents required for passing the AZ-900 certification exam. I can agree that the practice question given here was not the same as in the exam. I mean the format of the questions which are asked in 3-4 formats. If that is incorporated, then this will be a 5 star course

So this course alone is definitely not enough to be confident on the exam. However, it is a very good well structured foundation. I took this course, then took Microsoft official practice exams and failed them, read the notes for each question until I finally started passing the practice exams. THEN, I watched an exam cram video on Youtube the day before the test to get a better grasp of the concepts. All this together took about a week and equaled a passing score of 910 on the exam and I'm set up very nicely to start studying for the AZ-104!

Great course. Instructor's way of teaching is easy to grasp, and response time for doubts is awesome (within 24hrs). The only pt. of improvement in this course is the number of practice questions at the end of each section. If that's not possible, 1 additional practice test can be provided. Overall a great course, highly recommended. I am combining this course with MS Learn, and other Udemy courses for mock tests. Hoping to clear exam soon ! Thanks a lot. Edit: I cleared the exam with a 914/1000. I used this course as a base for my preps and supplemented it with repeated mocks. Thanks a lot !!

A very good intro to Azure! I have to say, I did not realize it was such a vast collection of different technologies, services, tools, and whatnot... It is a bit intimidating. But I hope that after I take a bit more time to explore the areas that I am particularly interest in (databases and analytics) I will start to appreciate this platform.

very nice course. This course was very useful in my preparation. I could understand the basic concepts and features of azure. I also read the docs on Microsoft page, but Instructor provides better explanation of terms and logic behind them in Azure. I didn't pass my exam yet, but I will do that soon hopefully.

Really enjoyed the flow and 'mashup' style of learning. I was able to pause each video at the beginning to read the PowerPoint slide and then click on the action video in the bottom right to follow along with Phillip as he explained the principles covered in that particular video. Since each video starts with a slide, I can easily go back through the course content, click on a section, then the video description and see the slide I'm looking for. Very helpful to review any content I am struggling with. Thank you, Philip, for making such an engaging and informative course to help prepare me for the AZ-900 exam.
