Course Description

Wordpress is a great site building tool but doesn't come with all of the features you need to create a vibrant, safe and search engine ready website.  Fortunately, Wordpress was created in a special way, allowing third party programmers to create and integrate their own features in the form of Wordpress plugins.

The course covers my top 10 plugin recommendations, as well as some of the best innovative plugins I use on special projects.

The top 10 plugins will cover the important aspects of your site:

  1. Elementor page builder.

  2. Search engine optimization - get your site visible in the search engines.

  3. Site security - stop hackers breaking into your website.

  4. Comments Spam - how to stop spammers so you don't even see their rubbish.

  5. Contact forms - giving your visitors a way to contact you.

  6. Page load speed - making your site faster so pages load more quickly.  Visitors love fast loading pages, and so do the search engines.

  7. Image optimization.

  8. Backups - How to backup your website so that you can restore it if anything goes wrong.

  9. Free traffic by lettering visitors share your content to their social media accounts.

  10. Related posts - to keep visitors on your site longer, and spread the link juice around your site with valuable internal links.

Besides these 10 essential plugins, I'll be including a dozen or so innovative plugins that I use on some websites. These plugins will help with a wide range of tasks from automated internal page linking, adding a Google map, a CSS visual editor for modifying your site design, visitor analytics, eCommerce, and even being able to hide or show Gutenberg blocks based on a wide range of specific, user-defined rules.

I have been building Wordpress websites for twenty years.  During that time, I've refined my list of recommended plugins for features that all of my sites really need.

This course will help you install, activate and configure these must-have plugins on your own website, as well as make you aware of other exciting plugins that are available.

Excellent course covering a variety of different plugins. Some will solve issues I knew about, and some will fix problems I didn’t yet know I had. Dr. Williams is very knowledgeable. His lectures are easy to understand. He’s definitely my favorite instructor for WordPress courses.

yes, using Elementor, but, needed a review.... went a little too quickly for me to comprehend all. And there was no place to answer the Pre-Course ?.... what happened to that ?? I would like to ask about a Gallery template plug-in for an Art Gallery.... thanks

I got an overview of plugin possibilities but as an absolute beginner, I found some of the instruction way over my head and a bit fast. I just watched instead of trying to apply any of it!! There's no question that Andy is highly knowledgeable. I do have his Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners and will be reviewing that. Thanks.

Overall this was the perfect tutorial for me. The example plugins are useful and the explanations are quite good. I wish there were a PDF outlining or even detailing the tutorial. I found myself having to constantly stopping the video to take notes.

Very easy to follow and a nice pleasant voice. Helped speed up my site by optimising my photos as well as installing W3 cache. Other plugins gave food for thought. Thank you.

I thought it was a good course that gave a lot of inside information. Andy does an excellent job explaining things which makes it easier to understand and follow his example.

I would have thought that you would have gone thru the setup on each plugin that you recommend, your setup. I thought that was wierd that you did not do that, that is why i gave you 4.5 stars instead of 5

Andrew Williams is the best instructor I found on Udemy so far. This ist the third course I subscribed to and he has never let me down. Every lecture contains new information and a lot of things I never heard of before. The explanations are clear and easy to understand. Highly highly recommended.

As a relative beginner, some acronyms and concepts and goals could be expanded slightly as they are first mentioned to provide a bit more context. However, that being said, I really liked the coarse!

By Jim Mahannah on 1/31/2017

No descriptions provided of the various components. Reviewing the Yoast SEO, many terms were not explained. Without knowing the terms, there's no practical way to make changes as one would not know what they're changing. Otherwise, a great course and one I'd recommend to others heartily. Great value...
