Our take
Based on the ratings of 34,854 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in February 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a 5.6 hour survey of how companies change the way they make money, using the Business Model Canvas as the frame. It runs 78 lectures across ten sections and leans on examples from Airbnb, Uber, Spotify, Tesla and Nintendo. The audience is founders, small business owners and managers who want ideas, not a workbook. Seven quizzes and nine articles back up the videos, but there are no assignments beyond that. The last update was in February 2026.
Reviewers say Paul Nekh explains things in clear, simple terms, and several call the real company examples relevant and easy to follow. Beginners call it a good start. The longest section is a crash course on using ChatGPT for research and brainstorming, and two reviewers mention the ChatGPT demonstration favorably. Complaints are rare: about 550 one and two star ratings among 34,854 reviews. The critical ones say it does not fit every business model, and one found some examples odd and wanted more on the drawbacks.
At under six hours, it is a quick way to pick up a vocabulary and a set of ideas to test on your own business. It will not teach financial modeling or hand over a plan, so expect to do the applying yourself. The AI section is the part most likely to age, since those tools change fast. As a first course on the topic, the 4.7 rating and 138,000 students make it an easy recommendation.
Pros
- Clear, simple explanations that reviewers say make the ideas easy to follow
- Case studies from Airbnb, Uber, Spotify and Tesla that students call relevant
- Short at 5.6 hours, so it is realistic to finish in a week
- Updated in February 2026, with a ChatGPT section reviewers enjoyed
Cons
- One reviewer found the content unsuited to some business models
- Mostly watching and quizzes, with no assignments to apply the ideas
- One critic found some examples illogical and wanted more on their drawbacks
